I've had it with shinbang. 1080 boots?

I've got the worst shinbang ever right now, and I'm sick of it. My boots perform well, but they're too stiff and don't have enough padding. Does that thick padding on the tounge of the 1080s make THAT much of a difference?

And were people joking when they said ripping the hair out of your shins helps...cause I never wear shorts anyhow.

Other suggestions?

what typa boots do you use? ive had a big problem with nordica for shin bang but never salomon. salomons have a very even flex throughout thats why they are good not because of the padding on the tounge although im sure that helps.

Nordica W10s is what I use... If I even have one big spill, or land in the backseat say, twice, I'm in pain all day. By the end of today I had no lower leg strength left, so I couldn't land anything without buckling and falling. I don't land backseat that much, but sometimes it happens.

make sure your current boots fit properly. Then, go to some good bootfitting shop(Fanatyk or Snowcovers in whistler, so I'm told) and have them hack up your boots. Cut a bigger V into the back of your boots, and cut off some plastic from the bottom of the cuff. Helped me out.

Sidenote: If you do all that, don't ever plan on selling your boots secondhand.

The 1080s are great, but they definately arent Shin-Bang-Proof. I ride with em, but landing in the backseat gives me shinbang just like anybody else... dont get me wrong, I like the boot, just dont expect it to solve all the problems.

^Yeah I'm not too sure I want to fuck up my Nordicas since I do a lot of downhill too and they work really well for that... plus that kinda sounds like i'd still end up with shinbang, only lower down.

ive got the 1080 boots and ive got fractured shins. they dont help!

nordicas are probably the worst boot out there for shin bang, weird flex patterns. salomons solved the problem for me.

landing backseat makes you have shit splints shin bang is from repeated hits because the ankle part of your boot is not snug... you need to stop landing backseat

i went through 3 pairs of salomon boots in 1 season. they kept on leaking and falling apart and shit. they were super comfy tho. i think it just had to do with the shape of my ankle and foot. i have rossi power 90's now and i love them.

yeah shin bang sucks I ski the 1080 boot and still get shin bang if I land in the back seat. So dont land backseat!!!!

i posted this on something else..

There are these foamy rubber things u can put in the front of your botts, which stops it a bit, to make sure your boots are firmly up against the boot.

this sounds strange but get ahold of some wetsuit material and stick a strip of it in your sock, make sure your boots are snug enough so it dosen't move around- it helps... a lot

my 1080 boots are the best (BY FAR) that i've ever used. i used to have rossi race boots, these give me enough stability and landings are smooth... i lost my shinbang problem.

it's also something to do with the soles in the 1080 boots.

*all hail to the mighty gods of snow*

I get it really bad when I land backseat also...but I still dont get what causes the pain. Is the pain just the strain on the shin bone from trying to pull yourself back to upright or what? Or, is it from your shin somehow actually banging the inside of the boot? I dont think its from your shin banging the inside of your boot, cuase if it were people wouldnt be saying that they have hairline fractures in there shins from landing backseet. What is it?

The 1080 boots are pretty sweet, Ive only had a shin bang prob with them a few times, like stupid multiple-day-skiing/landing-in-the-backseat-bs.

i used to get bad shinbang last year with a pair of promodel boots, but they didnt fit my foot very well. this year i got some of last year's technica icon alu's with hotform liners, and they are dope as hell. never had even a hint of shinbang this year.

i had a pair of nordicas and i had the worst shinbang ... now i have the new 1080s and so far they're perfect

i had super stiff nordicas for downhill and shit way back in the day. the softer boots is different skiing and yeah it decreases shinbang to a one day thing. After my botts come off the next day they dont hurt when I put em back on. for a good inbetween get the 1080 promodel, way better boot and better padding to. i love that boot.

WHERE ARE YOU HOIET

ive recently switched from Nordica beasts to 1080's, pretty happy so far, the 1080s of course flex a heck of a lot more, and that has helped a fair bit with overall comfort.

maybe consider a rossi soft boot? I have never skied a soft boot style before, im not sure how good they would be all over the mountin. im used to be technica icon xr's (the black softer index of the icon series) and i have never had bad shin bang.

Well to be perfectly honest with you I don't know what shinbang feels like because I've never gotten it, everything else on my body hurts after skiing but never my shins. ALTHOUGH, I hear those booster straps you can buy help A LOT for people who get shinbang

We pay our debt sometimes.

wow, the kid who asks what causes shin bang has been waiting for a year now! I will fill him in. Shin Bang is caused by landing backseat (which most people know) but when you land backseat, the muscles that stretch from your calfs to your shins get pulled off of your shins, causes small tears, so thats why it hurts.

do the chickens have large talons?

how come you guys can't spell tongue? anywhoe i have salomon boots. they aren't 1080's but they are very soft. i'd say salomon boots do the best job of protecting from shinbang because that's the only brand of boot i've ever skied with and i've never had a problem with shinbang. if it's bed enough to make a post on ns and considering shaving your leg hair, maybe you should really consider getting some 1080's

I run the 1080 boots and they are way sick, haven't got shin-bang all year but I used to when they were new. Now they just rub the hair off of my legs, it looks pretty funny, doesn't hurt at all.

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

ARCH SUPPORTS!!! they help alot. put them in your boots and your shoes. don't leave home without them.

you'll get shinbang in any boots, it doesnt matter what kind, just get a boot that has the rigth flex for your power and weight, thats how yo ucan minimize it the most.
