Itunes madness...PLEASE HELP!

Alright, so i recently moved all my itunes music into an external hard drive and everything seemed fine but somehow every song duplicated twice on my itunes in the process. When i delete the two duplicates of a song, the remaining one had to be 'located' and i can't find it anywhere. Not only is it a bitch to individually delete all the songs but now im losing all my music! I know its a fuckin mess but any help or ideas would be more than appreciated! Thanks, +k for help

That happened to me two years ago when i got a newer mac.

I had to just delete them all manually, it was a pain in the ass...

good luck, hopefully there is another way

thanks and yeahh i feel ya, but when i delete them manually somehow i lose the one i want to keep...super frustrating

I'm not 100% sure but all you have to do is move all your songs from your external hard drive to your computer before you put them on iTunes, because iTunes just plays the songs it doesn't actually store the file.
And in your case there are duplicates because one is the actual file and the second is the link that iTunes uses to play the song. (if that makes any sense.)

that kinda makes sense...so basically just move everything back to my computer that is on the hard drive?

delete everything from your itunes then re-import your library from your new hard drive.
