Yes, it is that time of year again

for all you knowledgeable NS'ers to choose me a ski for next year. And don't

you worry, I am no n00blet... I know how to make one of these threads!

Age: 18

Height: 5'10"

Weight: 145ish

Skiing ability: Level III+

BSL: 316

Location: Bumblefuck, Ohio

Main use of skis: About 95% park on the EC and 5% of dicking around on the

mountain. Also, 1 or 2 trips out west or to VT or NH area.

Skis I've ridden:

05/06 178 Line Invaders:

Pros:

Loved the soft construction

Butter zones were very fun

Center mounting was nice

Cons:

Washed out on jumps pretty easy

Cap Construction

They delaminated after about 4 days

05/06 170 Ninthward Butters:

Pros:

VERY POPPY

Stiff enough to take out of the park

for a day, but still great in the park

Held a good edge all mountain

Kept their pop

Cons:

Topsheet chipped very easily

Tails were a little too stiff for my

liking

I broke them

05/06 180 Armada Ar5’s:

Pros:

Poppy

Held their edge well all around the

mountain

Could ride everywhere

Cons:

A little too stiff to be a park only

ski at my size

Topsheet chipped too much

Now on to my requirements…..

I want a ski that is on the softer

side, and the fatter side. It will pretty much be my one-ski quiver. I am really looking for something that will

be fun all around the mountain (great in park, good all mountain, semi-fat).

All in all, a wide, soft jib-stick.

BUT, I don’t really want cap

construction. I have skied it before and it just wasn’t for me.

So now on to some skis I have had in

mind:

Line Elizabeth (kind of fat for

Ohio)

Line Anthem (not a fan of cap

construction)

K2 ObSETHed (might be a little

softer this year, and I like the rocker idea)

K2 Kung Fugas (not really sure about

this ski)

Armada ARV (have heard good things about it)

Feel free to suggest another ski if

you think I missed something!

And with all this information in

mind, please help me in choosing a ski so I can SHRED THE GNAR!!!

id say the anthems because i havent heard a bad thing about them except for they could sell wayyyyy more if they had a cooler topsheet

^Ya i figure is is most likely going to be the Anthems, but i REALLY don't like the cap construction.

thanks to the carbon ollie band, they still have great pop. i cant say enough good things about those skis, im supposed to be getting a pair of next years sometime this week

im going to say ARV's. A great one quiver ski. Built like a park ski with the wiast of an all mountain ski. The only beef I think you would have is that they are on the soft side and may not hold as much pop as you want. I only skied them quickly so I cant give you a detailed review on hwo the flex handles

Ya i emailed moment they said their pretty stiff but r comin out with a softer ski in this summers production :( to far away people r suggesting me the anthem (160cm 97lbs) for pow and park but the thing is on the website is says strictly park ski so im just not sure i like the arv's but wat about the stiff flex at my height wouldnt that be bad for pow pow? i ski park and pow like park 60% pow 40% (only because my mom wont let me go backcountry by myself)

If you dont want chipping, stay away from the ArV's.

I wish I could reccomend you some Heads, specifically the Mojo Spawns. My friend has a pair, they are super light, and alot softer than my Mojo BK's.

Anthems seem right up your ally, but you said you didnt want cap.

The only sidewall ski out there that doesnt chip are rossignols with their "RossiTop". Its a tough call for sure, but good work on the thread. This is how they should all be.

Ill still stand beside Anthems as my reccomendation. Seems like a good fit for you.

Thanks for the props. I see all these n00bs making stupid uninformative threads and get pissed.

But how soft are your BK's? And how does your friend like the Spawns?

And ya, i do realize that im probably gonna end up with Anthems. Whatever

i would say ARV's or Kung Fujas

ARV's are real soft and poppy, talk to japanada about them, he skis a pair

Don't know too much about the Kung Fujas but they look sick and seem like they would work great for you based on what i've heard about them

BK's are the stiffest ski in the world. Stiffer than 2 ar6's put together.

his spawns are super buttery, and light too. he loves them.

They arent like a bad stiffness. Im liking stiffer skis lately. I was on T-Halls and then Ar6's and i liked the stiffness, but not the width. I figured the mojos would be a good fit as they are stiff but narrow.

I can send you a vid of me flexing them if that will help at all.

I'm having the same kind of dilemma, but after all the good things I've heard about the anthems, I figure I'll get those.

I've been looking at the Gear Preview, and here are some skis I saw, that you might like.

Volkl Wall (115-87-115)

Volkl Ledge (111-84-111)

K2 Disorderly (109-85-109)

Atomic Punx (111-82-111)

no, no they didnt. anyways, anthems get my vote, check out my review in my sigature, i know you dont like cap but with the heavy edge and such, they are good on rails yada yada, my next vote if you wouldnt like those would be the Kung Fujas, looks like its gonna be great for what you want, i think that ARV's are gonna end up too soft for what you want, but then again so are the anthems. i dont know, i might lean toward the Fujas's if i were in your situation.

those are good skis, but i would say for you the moment reno rockers, such a sick ski, and soft because of rocker and symmetrical poppy, you might wash out on super big jumps but other than that they are pretty good

I personally like the top sheet. Im sort of getting sick of really crazy colors and wicked vibrant skis now. these are a nice mellow blue.

BIG BUMP!

I kinda wanna hop on the rocker bandwagon... How is the Reno Rocker? Or any other rockers that fit into my specs?

reno rocker is perfect for you, rockered park ski in size 181 117-90-117 perfect ski for a rockered park ski

as soon as there in stock on momentskis.com/store buy em so u have em for next year cause they sell fast

what about the rossi brigades? or s7's or whatever they call them now? theyre solid everywhere i've skiied them everywhere from maryland, PA and maine to jackson and utah with no complaints at all. my vote for best 1 ski quiver

i love my lizzies, there soft and make everything so smooth and styley, there nice for rails, they give you gorilla style, but you cant spin very fast, there really nice for powder, and there just a super fun ski to play with and stuff, message me if you have any more questions

haha no, mine are really soft
on the park ski front they're not that soft but on the regular ski front they definitely are, if somebody finds them too stiff then they weigh like 47 pounds
but great ski, sounds like exactly what you're looking for, it just doesn't last that long

Well here is an update!

Just picked up a pair of Hellbents for some bigger mountain stuff/trips to CO/anywhere that calls for em.

Now i want a park ski and my options include:

Anthems

Kung Fujas

Reno's

Maybe Disorderely.
