although shaun white kills it at pretty much every aspect of extreme sport he's a sell out. Yes I know that he makes hella bank but is money everything when you get a reputation of a cocky sell out who is sponsored by TARGET, T-MOBILE, and PLAYSTATION. Also that bitch who won women's snowboarding at the olympics has the maturity of a 9 year old. Just my rant on things sorry for the negativity but it had to be said
 
Shaun White is a preety nice kid actually hes down to earth and fun to chill with though he doesnt drink much and he fucked the uglyest chick EVER ! in NZ last year and hes preety igly himself but thats not the point hes a nice guy and people pick on him beacuse he is THE Best exept for danny kass that guy is god ! but think about it shaun has already won x-games like 4 x, won gold in Torino and has had his own pro model since he was like 14 and he still managed to place in x-games vert which is preety sick considering he doesnt skate 5 months a year. He not going to quit snowboarding hes just looking to futher his life all round and skateboarding is harder and he has nothing left to wni in Snowboarding though ive never seen him really kill the bc ive seen certain shots but not a whole segmant so what im trying to say here through all this rambeling is that hes done it all in snowboarding so hes looking for new chalenges shit imagine being that goods since you were like 10 years old once something becomes too easy it becomes boring.

shaun white has never spent a single day in the back country...he would probably find snowboarding a much more rewarding sport if he did...although shaun may have nearly perfected the slopestyle run, his snowboarding career in my eyes will never be complete.

i'd been waiting for him to mature into a dynamic snowboarder, and slay the BC, which he by all means he would have been capable of, but hasn't, and apparently never will now.
 
he got silver at x games vert and ive seen him kill it at newberg skatepark. he has a snowboard style when he skates, so he'l still be getting better at snowboarding if he focuses more on on skating. either way, we'l still be seeing more of shaun white weather hes on a skateboard or a snowboard cuz he shreds at both.
 
i guess to become complete as an athlete in skateboarding or snowboarding, he would have to focus his efforts entirely on one sport

hes about to bring skateboarding vert to a whole new level. and he quits snowboarding every summer to skate, and he dropped out of the vans triple crown last summer to train for snowboarding.
 
When Shaun White can rip big lines like Jeremy Jones he will have something to say. Right now he only dominates the park and pipe scene, which is a very small part of the sport. When I see him destroy an Alaskan spine wall I will be impressed, until then he has a long way to go. Travis Rice and Jeremy Jones are far more impressive.
 
i'm sorry are you serious. you may not see shaun in movies but he goes up to the back country and shreds shit too. its just not shown in movies we usually dont see olsson in the bc either but im sure he could outski you. so uhm yay

Actually, if he were to quit snowboarding, he'd be the complete opposite of a sellout. The guy actually makes a living doing extreme sports. And that's not the same as most ski pros definition of a "living". The dude is rich.

How would your sponsors feel if you publicly said snowboarding wasn't as interesting as skateboarding?(not that he said that, but still).

If anything, this says to me that he doesn't give a shit what his sponsors think.
 
hmmm... i read an interview with him from snowboarder mag last year or the year before in which he said he had no interest in backcountry and had yet to do any big mountain, and that he never would because its unpredictable and dangerous. apparently he changed his mind, according to two of you. i haven't seen any cliff drops, gnar shredding, or first descents of Shaun's, and only assumed he stuck to what he said in that interview.

and yes, shaun white is a snowboarding legend, a half pipe legend and slopestyle legend.

not trying to downplay his role in snowboarding, i got to ride the lift with him at pc, and maybe wasn't 'honored', but thought it was pretty cool at the time, and having met him i don't dislike him at all, like you say you do. in light of his 'BC slaying' that i haven't seen, i'll only say then that its a shame he didn't appreciate this aspect of the sport more, and shit all over it like he shit on the pipe and park.
 
honestly, he could with a bit of experience there. sure big mtn takes skill its legit for sure, but anyone with the skill shaun white has in snowboarding(or skiing) can go to alaska and rip lines after a little bit of time getting comfortable. big mtn is less skill and more experience and balls
