alot of ski companys are doing stuff like this with their edges now, I ride on a pair of RMU's with edgeless tips and tails and I haven't had any issues with them after a couple seasons of hard shreddin

probably not unless you are riding the very end of the edge into stuff. normal edges that go all the way up tend to bend inwards on impact and fuck up the bases and make things start delamming.

Yeah dude non fully raped edges are way less prone to delamination, in theory there more durable that way, a few other companies do this with there skis as well like on3p and kitten factory

Tips flexs a ton when slamming down on a landing, literally flattening out out on impact which is what causes all layers to want to separate. hardened steel edge vs. plastic vs. wood all flex at different rates. The less layers of varying materials the less delam.

It def does. Worked in a shop the past few years and I cant even begin to tell you how many pairs of skis i had to re-set the edge in because of this design. If you ski park, its inevitable that it will pop out at one point or another. And the whole argument that this helps with buttering is bs. Just detune the fuck out of your tips and tails.

Not to be this guy, but many snowboards are like this. And I've never heard of it happening.

So much this.

Here are two shots from me doing a medium-small jump, probably 30 ft.

First is just when my tails are touching the landing, second is the frame where my tips go down, and the flex is crazy. I would never have imagined it happened this much until I saw this.
