A COLDER AND MORE ENERGETIC PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT UTAH

AND SURROUNDING STATES THIS WEEKEND. MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES ARE

EXPECTED BY SUNDAY. WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION COULD DEVELOP ACROSS

THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE STATE THIS WEEKEND...WITH LESSER AREAL

COVERAGE FOR THE NORTHERN SECTION OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING.

SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER SIGNIFICANTLY BEGINNING SATURDAY...WITH

ACCUMULATING SNOWS LIKELY AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS SATURDAY NIGHT

THROUGH SUNDAY.

Yeah I am freakin out about this one. Lets get some colder temps and a little frozen white cotton water! So stoked.

A POTENT PACIFIC SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE REGION THIS

WEEKEND. WIDESPREAD AND SIGNIFICANT VALLEY RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW

CAN BE EXPECTED AS THE SYSTEM MOVES ACROSS THE REGION THROUGHOUT

THE WEEKEND. MOISTURE WILL BEGIN TO INCREASE OVER THE AREA

ON SATURDAY. THE ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT IS THEN FORECAST TO MOVE

ACROSS NORTHERN UTAH LATE SATURDAY...REACHING SOUTHERN UTAH BY

SUNDAY MORNING. SNOW LEVELS WILL FALL QUICKLY BEHIND THE COLD

FRONT TO NEAR 7000 FEET. SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO

FALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY SUNDAY...REACHING NEAR 6500 FEET BY SUNDAY

AFTERNOON ACROSS NORTHERN AND CENTRAL UTAH. THIS STRONG SYSTEM IS

EXPECTED TO BRING THE FIRST SNOW STORM TO THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF

NORTHERN...CENTRAL AND EVEN PARTS OF SOUTHERN UTAH SUNDAY.

PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST TO SLOWLY COME TO AN END LATE MONDAY.

EXPECT THESE TEMPERATURES TO BRING SNOW LEVELS DOWN TO AT

LEAST THE 6500-7000FT RANGE. CURRENT MODEL RUN-TOTAL QPF SUGGESTS

THAT A WINTER WEATHER HEADLINE MAY BE WARRANTED AS THE EVENT

APPROACHES...AS A FOOT OR MORE OF SNOW MAY BE POSSIBLE IN SOME

AREAS.
AS FOR THE VALLEYS...SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL MAY CAUSE LOCAL

HYDROLOGIC ISSUES...ANOTHER ISSUE THAT MAY NEED TO BE ADDRESSED OVER

THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

where did you find this? I cant find it... But that so sick if its true. Im definitely going skinning on sunday up at alta...wahooo

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!

AHHHHH SO HAPPY!!

i hate hate hate this heat right now

NEW SNOW AMOUNTS OF UP TO 12 INCHES ARE EXPECTED BY LATE SUNDAY

ABOVE THE 8500 FOOT LEVEL WITH 18 TO 24 INCHES ABOVE ABOUT 9500

FEET. SEVERAL INCHES OF NEW SNOW ARE POSSIBLE DOWN TO 7000 FEET ON

SUNDAY.

this is great for the short term, but VERY BAD for the midwinter snowpack. This snow is going to rot, turn into depth hoar (snow crystal type), and become a persistent weak layer in the months to come. just keep this in the back of your mind when you hit the mountains this winter.

but hey, at least the rail sliding will be good this week!

yoo snowbird picture of the day!

Word, just went up. Snow level needs to lower!!! If it lowers then I think we could be having quite a good time playing in the snow the next couple of days, but as of right now you have to go to top of Gaurdsmans to find any. SNOW DANCES EVERYONE! WE NEED IT LOWER!

not yet but i want to... should i try to get a ride up there!!?? is it epic? the thought of snow up there and me at home on ns no car suucks but if its worth it i'll try to find a ride.

i don't know if it's worth it...that's what i'm trying to figure out. i heard 2 inches at alta, but i don't know whethere there would be enough to hit the rails in guardsmans or not

obviously we all check the mountain weather and its going to snow this week... hopefulyl a lot.

BUT we are also expecting snow in the city this weekend. Hopefully enough to hit rails.

I hate to say it but I don't think slc is gonna get very much snow at all. There isn't even a winter storm warning posted yet, which means mountains get 6-12 and its not even gonna happen. But maybe itll come together. Head north to Bozeman and ski, thats where im heading.
