"In the United States, this type of hat is usually referred to as a knit hat, knit cap, sock cap or stocking cap, and sometimes as a ski hat. In the U.S. southern states, it is sometimes called a toboggan."

"A beanie is a similar type of hat." (bold italics mine)

HAHAHAHAHA!!! We win!

so then......what are the hats with ear flaps/tassles/puff balls (or any combo of those 3) called. i call em sherpas (see my name) but my friend is convinced they arent called that.

Ima start calling them tobbagons like they do in the Southern US.

"Hey put on your tobbagons and lets go tobbaganing!".

omg strange brew i thought my friends and i were the only people in the world that saw that m ovie omg i like the part where the dog starts flying

i just call em fuckin ski hats.

"let's go buy some more ski hats this weekend"

"i definitely spend too much money on ski hats"

"can't have sex without a ski hat"

refference for that?

I call it tuque because it is a tuque. Beanies are not the same thing. For me, a beanie is a kind of tuque, but it's knit and has bigger knit we can clearly see.

beanie sounds gay, tuque sounds original and way better, sure it sounds canadian, but most of the snow is in canada anyways bitches

I will accept Tuque as an american, just because you used that show. I love that shit. One of the funniest things to ever be on tv.

Wow, where did you pull that fact, out of your ass?

You can't rely on the fact that we have more mexicans and blacks. You damn racist.

^thats great, Im sure people in Greenland love being Greenlandic, but history will remeber them for doing JACK SHIT!!

"The word tuque is not etymologically related to the name of the chef's toque, although tuque is sometimes spelled "toque" (though still pronounced /tuk/) by assimilation. The word is also sometimes spelled "touque"; while this is technically a misspelling, it's a quite common one."
