It's all over

My days of skiing all the time, getting turnt with the crew, avoiding responsibility, and not giving a fuck are over.

I finished school last year and am working in sales for a fortune 50 company.

The corporate grind is real.

This winter I blew my knee on my third day of the season. Paying for surgery and PT on your own is a fucking bitch.

I love what I am doing, and have never had these kind of opportunities in my life.

But as I sit at yet another bar in a foreign city alone, with a bum ass knee none the less, it dawns on me how much I miss the days mentioned above.

I'll never progress in the park, or go out and shred with my best friends for that matter, ever again.

It sucks so much because I love free skiing so much.

Life happens and one must move on - I am cool with that.

But my advice to all of you out there: don't take a single day lapping with your friends for granted. It can all be taken from you so fast.

Somehow everyone on this site ends up giving up skiing to work for a "fortune 500" company. Interesting...

I didn't give it up to start a career. I was finally able to purchase new gear for the first time in four years, was planning on taking a trip out west mid winter, and had a decent lap park an hour away that I planned on hitting as much as possible.

But now I have a fucked knee and have so much other stuff going on.

Just sucks realizing that something I have been so into for the past 5 years is quickly leaving my life.

Lol what fortune5 company are you working for that doesn't offer a health insurance plan

Health insurance doesn't make it free dawg. Even with quality insurance, surgery + months of PT is fucking expensive. Not to mention the doctor visit, MRI, and Specialist appointments that were necessary to even get into the OR. Shit adds up

Anybody who has blown a knee or two gets the 'it's all over' thoughts. These will pass, you will recover and be able to enjoy skiing again. It doesn't have to be one or the other in regards to job vs. skiing.

^ This. Dude its not over i ve blown my knee was pissed at the world. Don't give up or just say "o well ill move on" if you love to ski you will make it part of your life, do your PT work extra at the gym your knee will get better with time and in that time new opportunities will arise with in your work schedule to allow skiing. Stay positive and be optimistic for the future.

Skiing is not something you really get into if you live in the inner city slums. It's no surprise a lot of the kids on here have been given great opportunities to enter powerful careers.. and then we all lament about how we'd really rather be skiing than making money. So it goes.

This.

Oh shut the fuck up you big pussy. Rehab the vagina on your knee, get to a hill and go fucking ride. You have a job, boo fucking hoo, that means more money for more ski shit which we all know you can never have enough of. Save your big boy money for a sick fucking ski trip once your vagiknee is up to par. Until then stop sucking vagina cock.

If you're done, best of luck, if not best of luck. If you're over skiing it's all good. I've moved on from some things I used to be big into. Probably will never quit skiing/boarding though.

I've been in season ender mode the last few years. Honestly I just get stoked to get out and ride. I've been doing big chest draggin 360 g turns and they put a huge smile on my face. Haven't thrown much for tricks in the park but I still love getting on the hill.

Even if you can just get healthy enough for groomers it's nice to be on the hill. You don't have to ski everyday or be charging the park all out, sometimes just getting on the hill for a couple runs once in a while to hit some mellow groomers is all ya need.

^ This

But for real, if you are done with it, good luck to you man, always sad to see a NS'er make the change from skier to "serious career" or some shit. Hope you enjoy your office!

HAahahahah this is pretty much the best put inspirational quote out there

just need to treat it like a new chapter of life man. Maybe the days of lapping the park are over, but think of the days in the future when go take a weekend off and shred, and just feel the joy of being on skis. just because you moved on doesnt mean you have to stop skiing. but i know where you're coming from. growing up can suck. i see myself growing up more every day, and it sucks.

I know how you feel. When I was in high school, I lived 5 mintues from my pathetic midwest resort. I skied every freaking day there, I didn't care how bad it was. They were some of the happiest times of my life. Now I'm a senior in college working an internship so I can get a "real" job when I get out. I don't get to ski nearly as much as i used to, and it makes me sad sometimes.

I don't want to grow up.

ski forever. don't have to ride park or go steep and deep if you cant anymore, but just ski til your legs don't work

Easier said than done when youre out of college working a real job and cant get discounted passes anymore or your job has you located no where near a mountain

OP, I have been working a finance job 8-5 M-F for the past year after college and my skiing career/life is FAR FROM OVER. It's all about having a healthy balance between work/fun and you could be happier than ever.

I still ski once/twice a week, climb 4 nights a week, have money to go out and do almost anything I want. I also just took a dream trip to Jackson with some of my best buddies staying in a ski in/ski out house thanks to my job and being able to afford it. Keep your head up, it only gets better...trust me.

same but i just graduated highschool. didnt go to college and now work for the town i live in. i barely ski with friends anymore and dont go out at all it sucks.but hey i just bought my plane tickets to utah and 2 new sets of skis and a snowmobile so i guess its not too bad

This is real, unfortunately. I skied a half day in the rain last year, have zero days so far this year. Couple of times I've tried to plan out a weekend it's been blown up by surprise work. Hopefully next year will be better...

U know what better than your cool story bro? If you take every letter from each first word of each paragraph, it would spell out: MITTIBIIB

I read your "problem" over twice, and still don't see a problem.

Maybe you're just a pussy. And you're gonna be a terrible salesman.

Or its the fact that I'm an adult now and have to travel for work and really dont have time to ski. If I could i'd be out there everyday but I'd rather be successful than a bum
