It seems that our community is destroying itself from within

It upsets me to think that a small niche in the sporting industry freestyle skiing that has come so far in the past couple years seems to slowly be tearing itself a part. it is sad to see such large companies, companies that have gotten us to the very spot we are now start to tear each other apart by sewing each other over what seems to me some very pointless issues. Level 1 VS. WME. Scott USA VS. ON3P. it is just getting to be ridiculous. These companies have brought skiing from nothing into something. something for kids to do. something for kids to look forward to. these companies have been at the forefront of revolutionizing skiing as we know it today. And now to think that the skiing community is now going to judge someone who we have fully supported and backed all the way to his fame Tom Wallisch. Who are you all to judge who he wants to ride for. If anything this company change will only progress the sport by allowing him to travel more and enter more competions. i think it is important that this fighting sewing and just overall garbage needs to come to an end. Because if it doesn't it simply almost makes me almost be ashamed to be apart of the community.

if you think a bunch of teenagers on the internet is destroying the community you are sadly mistaken. sure theres been some setbacks here and there but overall the tricks and progression is still pumpin.

business is business, the sport will still be the sport.

the companies are sewing eachother? lol

someone rewrite this thread with proper words and such and then we can have intelligent conversation like we always do!

i think its sad to see shane mcconkey passing away, ostness selling all his camera gear, tanner not competing anymore, all the pros from back in the days (propaganda, happy dayz) are dissapearing everyday the roots of freestyle are being lost

to say the least i know about the typos. thank you. more importantly i am fully aware that the riders are going to keep the sport new and interesting it is just sad to see that the companies that have really gotten us there are just acting like children

I like the analogy that it is like the game Jenga. We keep taking form the bottom and putting it on top. The progression (the tower) gets taller while the roots (the base) become weaker, until Jenga!

if that makes sense

I really am sick of these "save skiing" threads, they are getting stupid. I hate listening to people complain.

Just cause its a thread doesn't mean you sew people come on!
freeskiing has always been a rapidly changing sport. This is just part of it. Growing pains.
Chill

I disagree.
I see it more as standing on the shoulders of giants (thanks newton.) These guys laid the foundation for the future of skiing, and I do not think it will ever "jenga" because that base they built is too fucking strong.
skiing is just too much fun

think of it this way. we all know julien and then armada fired him because they didnt think he was helping bring in enough money. The movies now are showcasing athletes whos sponsors put in the most money..

thats usually how these threads end up. just a big shit show. im not sure why people care so much about a little typo. again im sorry i typed it fast. and it is not a matter of complaining about the industry it is just sad to see it the way it is now

...so one company sues another company in the ski industry and suddenly the ski industry is destroying itself from within? You are definitely a "glass is half empty" kind of guy. Yeah the WME lawsuit sucks, but I don't take it as a sign of the apocalypse. Warren went to bat for Level I. That's enough for me to see that the industry is still influenced heavily by people who love skiing more than the dollar.

one time, a couple summers ago, I was sitting around my friends house before dinner and a few of my peers were playing Janga. Well, weren't we all surprised when they managed to play the game to the point where there were no possible moves left, the game of Janga was completed to it's entirety.

Only once did that happen, and I doubt I will see it happen again in my lifetime.

i dont think the community is gonna fall apart cause companies are acting like first graders. as long as we keep skiing our sport wont go away. core brands are great and its nice to know who really cares about skiing but any business is set up to make money. thats how it is. already been said but its just growing pains.

i love you to daringharry even though im pretty sure your being sarcastic...we will continue to piss off redneck hunters
