It pays to have strict parents

So about 2 months ago, i was pulled over for going 83 in a 55 by a state policeman. He got me on radar. Automatic reckless driving charge, which means i had to go to court.

I know, i'm an idiot.

So i take this ticket home, and give my keys to my parents, and they flip out. I was grounded for 3 weeks, and they took my license from me until my court date. They told me if i get another ticket, they are taking away my license again for longer, and selling my car. Also, i had to cover the financial side of things, including all fines and court fees and the increase in insurance.I was honestly, really pissed off, despite the fact that it was all my fault.

Fast forward to today when my court date was. The cop was there, gave his statement, including that to catch up with me he had to go 100 mph for a mile and a half. The judge honestly gave me the scariest stare i have ever encountered, and asked me to explain myself. As i said that, my stepdad asked to say some things and ran down the list of the punishment i recieved for committing the crime. After hearing that, the judge asked me what my summer plans were(work), and then told me that he was going to give me a continuance till december 5th, at which point if i stay out of trouble, the case will be dismissed.

so once again, because my parents were pretty strict, i get a second chance. couldn't be happier.

yeah, sometimes it's good. Like if my parents weren't strict I would of been a total fuck and who knows where i would be now.

Some states i think 25 over or something is reckless driving. Some states you can get a felony for 20 over. Im glad ive passed cops on the side of the freeway in utah, going 20 over, in a construction zone and they did nothing.

when i was little, i hated my parents for being the stereotypical asian super strict parents. looking back im glad they were strict on me until through middle school. I think if parents are strict up until 7th grade, then let loose a bit for 8th 9th and half of 10th, then loosen up almost completely they produce good-valued, hard working, but independent and self confident kids.

oooo. Got it. I was just wondering because I got a ticket for 68 in a 35 and just got a straight ticket nothing else. I live in CA so it might be different or I coulda just gotten really lucky.

yeah it def pays off cuz mine were strict all through grade school into sophmore year of highschool, then they let me loose which was awesome cuz they had gained my trust whereas my other friends who were cut lose early on were getting priveledges taken away. i hated it at the time, but im def seeing where it pays off.

didnt you get arrested for making fake ids though? lol im not hating dude there are a thousand worse things you could do, just kinda funny

thats pretty cool

buuuut, it also pays to have really chill parents. like my friend for example, same situation as you. his dad asked to speak to the judge as well, told him all the punishments he gave his kid for speeding like that. only his dad never punished him and just told him not to do it again... hahaha

agreed 100%. my parents, well let me rephrase that...my mom was like a fucking nazi up until middle school. then i was allowed to do more things then in highschool i am pretty much allowed to do as i want. obviously nothing stupid, but i don't do things that are too stupid. so everything has worked out great.

i would be kinda pissed if i were you though. i am actually pretty excited that i might be buying my own car, so no help from my parents. so if something does happen, i can give a big fuck you to my mom when she tries to take my car.

I got pulled over for speeding once. My speedometer said 65. When the cop asked me how fast I was going and I said 65 she told me I was going 78. She only wrote me a ticket for 5 over. I was happy to get a ticket for 5 over but it was pretty gay that somehow my speedometer was wrong or she just made up a random speed and fucked me over.

In Maine it's 30 over. I got caught on radar at 32 over but the cop lowered it to 29 so I wouldn't have to go to court. Still a 283 dollar ticket though, which blows.

sounds like your parents are assholes... my dads lost his license 10 x for speeding.. and i havent gotten 1 ticket and i speed all the time.. cops in america are fuckin assholes when it comes to this shit
