It is 9/11 today, and i didn't hear one damn thing about it in school.

what the hell. we are STILL in a war caused by this attack (afghanistan>terrorism>sadaam>oil>IRAQ in that order somewhat) and i didn't hear a call for one moment of silence, didn't see a tear shed, didn't see anyone stop and remember what this did to our nation. what happened, did we forget? all i saw was a little red white and blue ribbon in my agenda book. am i the only one who feels like this isn't something that should be forgotten. and dont tell me its time to move on, WE STILL HAVEN'T CAUGHT THE MAN WHO PLANNED AND FOLLOWED THROUGH WITH THESE ATTACKS! god damnit, idk whether i'm upset or angry, but quick, someone tell me they feel the same way.

i was making a thread like this now lol. but its kinda stupid how we have a day of silence for gay people but not 1 second for 9/11 attacks

there's a thing dedicated to gay people? what's it called? and don't mind me i'm just canadian.

I had to fly to cali today and that was kinda eerie, I was boarding when the first plane hit, so we had a moment of silence.. I am kinda pissed at google for not doing anything seeing as they do any thing whenever someone picks their ass

That's not right. At my school one of the teachers talked over the intercom and sounded on the brink of crying, she talked about the heros that day, then about the men and women in the armed forces. We then had a moment of silence out of respect for the people who were killed.

im canadian so I wasn't expecting anything today, but in one class (that I came late to so I missed the start of it) a teacher said something about a discussion they had earlier, and how one kid said we shouldn't do anything it didn't involve us and who cares, so she said a bit about how that was wrong and said some connections some teachers had with people that got killed.

then another kid got really mad in my math class about how the school did nothing for it, and how we should give a moment of silence for what happend.

being canadian doesn't have anything to do with it, it was the world trade center, people from all over the world worked there.

i didnt hear anything about it either. like at all today. i was thinking about it all day and this thread is the first thing all day that i've seen/heard that mentioned it.

just...what the fuck...

ha

thats so true

they flew the flag half mast though

but i went to a football game today(highschool)

and they didnt even play the national anthem or anything

to be honest, if we had a moment of silence for every terrorist attack in history we wouldn't have a lot of time left to get work done. it's up to the individuals to pay respect to the fallen, nobody should have to make you do it.

that's how i look at it anyways.

we had a 10sec one at my school. we had a week long thing for gays tho. fucking homo(no pun intended)

I bet they told all the teachers not to talk about it so little billy and susie dont come home up set to mommy and daddy. I was in highschool when the attacks took place and some schools in the area didnt allow the tvs to be turned on in case some students became emotional.... Thats one thing I hate about the way modern generations are being raise. Bring the paddle to schools... Life is rough, fucking deal with it.

These attacks are the major defining event of our generation, you cant turn that off. I dont care what country your from, 9/11 was not just an attack on the US it was an attack on western civilization and everything we stand for. People need to remember that.

fuckin cool, bout time we start to forget about all the shit and tragedies, it's not like the memorys will ever be forgotten in our soul.

but the gay silence shit is fucking retarded, i guess cause it's not a memory it's just fucken annoying

honestly in my high school there trying to shove it down our throats and it does get annoying. or MLK assembly was so stupid, 1 2 minute speech about MLK the rest is about gay rights or something that happen to gay people. that goes against everything in my book turning something about someone great into ways to show what they want.

yeah dude, same here, my friends were discussing that there shouldnt even be school. Im not saying that becuase i want a day off, just a plus, but its one of the biggest tragedys in the US to date, and yeah fuck our government thanks causing all of this

no thye kinda turned it in to a gay rights assembly. i know they are both types of civil rights but what the MLK assembly is about is totally different then gay rights, how they fought for it, how bad they were discimanated and not accepted jobs. ect.

yeah i agree with the title. it was kinda like in the back of my mind all day and i was just waiting for someone to bring it up and not one person i talked to all damn day said a worddd. not a moment of silence. nothing. wtf

Well I walked into work today and said "Happy 9/11!" in a completely joking manner... didn't go over well.

I was just hoping to follow up with how it should be some sort of holiday or remembrance day as there are holidays for extremely stupid events anyways... Isn't this important?

But still, these schools should get their heads out of there asses and at least take a few seconds to talk about the day when the shit hit the fan.

There was a pretty big thing at the beginning of the UNC-Rutgers game tonight on ESPN. I mean, it's been 7 years, shit's kinda died down.

The American Embassy in dubai decided they wernt going to do aynthing atall for it, apparently they want to forget it, but even my school, and english school, held a moments silence to pay respect.

one of my profs sort of talked about how if we dont make globolization better there will be more events like 9/11 or something of that sort. I'm in Canada though, it does suck and i am surprised there werent any sort of things going on. But I think a moment of silence is a bit overboard. I mean there are way more terrible things that had happened in the world, it just shocks you because it's in your country, almost 3000 people died during 911. In the genocide in Africa it was 937000.

well youre right, we didnt catch the ones that followed through with the attacks because they kind of.. well died. didn't need to catch them.

i dont mean it to sound like 9/11 isnt a big deal but i mean only 3000 people died and it was mostly fairly quick deaths.

all over africa right now waaaay more people than that are being tortured and murderd and raped by millitant armies that go around destroying villages for kicks, they have never gotten a moment of silence...

dude i go to a christian school now (parents are makin me) and they didnt even mention it...only thing i saw was a teacher wrote "Never Forget" on his board

nothing happened hear either. yes bullshit but a word about gay silence week or whatever it is. quit complaining. its the one week out of the year when the queers shut the hell up. personally im sick of hearing about it. your gay we get it. go be gay and leave me out of it and quit attacking marraige you butt pirates.
