any one else hear about these cartoons that were published in a Danish newspaper a few days ago, of the Prophet Mohammad? there creating a huge contraversy and i was just wondering if any one chad seen them? and if you did if you could hook me up with the link.

it just depicts mohammad as a caricature. in the islamic religion u can never see mohammads face so its kind of illegal
 
It was actually published way back in September but now the talibans were bored so everyone from scandinavia is getting kicked out of Gaza and the surrounding areas.
 
some of them portrayed mohammed as fathering a religion of violence (he is depicted as having a bomb in his turban, for example), so coupled with the fact you shouldn't depict his face, a whole bunch of people are pissed, shooting guns in the street, kidnapping westerners and kicking people out of their countries to prove the cartoonist wrong... is there anything wrong with this picture?
 
Well its got them pissed off something fearsome, Iran is cutting off all ties with the UN and EU and Danish, Norweigian, and French Embassies have all been attacked, some worse than others
 
and let's add to that that Jacques Chirac said he would not hesitate to use nuclear force against Iran if it attacks french interests... hmmmm....

Islam forbids the portrayal of the human figure, not sure if theyre specifically against portraying mohammed as well...

Islam forbids the portrayal of mohammed, not of humans. do you think they would have riots and killings every time somebody was spotted with a camera? or there was sign with a person on it? no.

the people who are burning the embassies to promote their religion of peace against an all too correct cartoonist are the same as:

_the kids in france reacting to Nicolas Sarkozy calling them scum by burning more cars to prove him wrong.

_ the people who decided to pass their political agenda before anything else blaming GWB for a hurricane, yes actually the hurricane itself, because he did not sign kyoto making the storm stronger than it would have been if he had yadda yadda...

_ the people who decided to regain prestige for their kingdom and to gain political power over a wealthy land by tacking catholicism on to their aspiration of conquest, we know these as the crusades.

_ and just for kicks, the people who founded the catholic church, with such unbiblical practices as praying to saints, indulgences, confession to a priest, chastity of priesthood, the pope, actual belief in bread and wine being the actual blood and body of Jesus Christ, the divinity and virginity of Mary, purgatory, which has been abandonned as a testament to the fact it was actually a farce....

yeah, humans beings are mostly stupid, and suck.

The fanatic muslims aren't really doing anything out of the ordinary, so I don't see why everyone is making such a fuzz about it.
 
yeah, it's actually kinda humorous.

some fanatics kidnapped a guy at the exit of one of the embassies that is now torched, and threatened to kill him. The kinapped guy informed them that he was, in fact, german, and not norwegian/danish/french as they had hoped. so they bound him up and blind folded him again, and dropped him back off in front of the embassy. nothing too weird.

It's sad but true. Most of them would wipe out all of us if they could by pressing a button. Not only all "non-muslims" but all people who live in the Western world, North and South America and Europe, basically. Muslim or no muslim, if you live here, you deserve to die. At least according to the guys who are burning embassys and crashing planes into buildings, and even blowing up their own wives.
 
thats just gonna start more shit, seriously though that cartoon does make sense because it does depict the instability of the muslim world in the middle east. I would have never thought that riots would start over something like this but apparently they respect their religious leader more than us catholics.
 
none of you are qualified to comment on islam or the muslim world. political science is about the most complicated fucking thing in the world and requires a huge amount of research and knowledge to speak about intelligently. obviously I have opinions based on the little information I recieve in the news but I keep them to myself because I know them to be ignorant.

Its easy for us to say here that its "just a cartoon" but what Islams dont have is freedom of speach. They find this incredibly derogatory...

Then agian.. the Media is hyping this up...

Its the one problem with our country... the media ruins EVERYTHING... everyone gets hyped up about everything.

President Bush doesnt run this country... Corperate sponsorship and the media do.

As much as you would like to think otherwise, thats how it is.
 
Does anyone else find it funny that a country such as Denmark just set the entire muslim population in an uproar? I am not saying I agree with what they did or anything, but just remove yourself from it and look at it, its quite humorous.
 
people need to do some fucking research on Islam.

first off, it wasnt the fact they were fucking bored, it was that about 3 other newspapers republished the cartoon recently.

secondly, it is warned in the Islamic religion not to depict art of any form of Muhammad or Allah.

thirdly, the majority of Muslims are peaceful people who live in a world of political confusion and some are forced to use violence in order to achieve what they need.

Only a small percentage are terrorists but the media always finds a way to say how anyone who worships Allah is gonna go blow up your world trade center. It's rigoddamndiculous.

I understand Islam very well and only because of the media do i still try to stay away from Muslims at airports. Fuck Media.
 
If you think about it for a second. A small percentage are terrorists, about 5 percent of the muslims are against the western countries,

5 Percent of 1 BILLION people, is ONE HELL OF A LOT OF PEOPLE!

the thing that is rediculous is that despite whatever conventions Islam may stipulate against the protrayal of the Prophet, the fact remains that the arab media does far, far worse against Jews and Christians. and as far as im aware, no Christian nations are kicking the ambassadors of Muslim nations out of their countries. its absurd.

and to the dude who said that no one is qualified to comment on this... dont be obtuse. sure, lots of 14 year olds dont have the background to make any sort of well founded claims, but theres been a handfull of pretty good posts in the thread so far.

the fact is that the reaction is no where near to being proprotional to the offence. were talking boycotts that violate the WTO, that could ruin multiple nordic companies in return for a few drawings that werent in any way sanctioned by any of these governments. its rediculous.

then you take into account things like death threats against europeans, and claims that certian groups in Iraq would be targeting nordic soldiers for death specifically in retribution for these drawings. doesnt this strike anyone as totaly nuts?

im in my last semester of a political science degree, and have taken a handfull of courses on middle eastern politics, and political Isalm, so im going to go out on a limb here, and say that as far as the newschoolers population goes, im not unqualified to state an opinion here. i understand exactly why many Muslims hate the western nations, and why they do some of the things that seem irrational to us. this, however, is pretty much indefinsable.
 
Anyone with a fully functional brain can comment on this issude dude. The long and the short of it is that people rioting over cartoons is fucking rediculous and can NEVER be justified.

Until this event i had been entertaining the idea that the Muslim population has good reason to be fiercly defensive. They live in a world threatened by the evolution and infiltration of Western Culture. I mean, if it were the reverse and their culture was asserting itself over mine i might resort to the same tactics as they were my only recourse.

However, after witnessing 'Cartoon Riots' i have since come to realise that the Muslim culture is one of failings. I have lost all simpathy for their situation and hope they all find pain and suffering in their 'glorious' afterlife.

i think they are mad funny. And if they dont want to be stereotyped as terrorists, then why the fuck would they burn buildings and throw grenades. because they are fucking primative
