First things first. I search barred, couldn't find anything.Another thing, I know I may get hate for this but I know a lot of you guys must download shit from torrents and stuff too. If you don't, good for you.

I just want to know - is it safe? I've heard some stories and I'm jus't curious.

+k to any good insight

yeah its safe. you wont get any viruses from it (in my experiences and most others). however, it is illegal, so if you download a ton (gigs at a time) without a proxy, you could get in some trouble. its unlikely but it could happen

it is a bit torrent client. asking if it is safe is kind of like asking if chrome is a safe browser. What you choose to download is the variability, not client software.

technically the program is not illegal. Using torrents is not illegal unless they are copy righted material (so for the most part yeah) Also unless you are downloading a TON of stuff you won't be noticed. Uploaders are the one who are at the most risk, not downloaders.

How experienced with it are you?

Theres certain inputs you need for download/upload bandwidth (esp upload) - as to not get 'tracked' for hosting.

Mine is off all the time unless it is downloading. Depending what browser you use and how often you download, there are also add-on widgets to look for. Chrome is the worst (excl. Safari) when coming to getting tracked. I have an add-on that blocks my IP and pages used to track what I search for online, pages I visit, etc...so people with Google Analytics and such can't check where I'm located - resulting in pop ups or ads on pages like Facebook with gear or things I basically have open in other tabs or have a history on.

Downloading too much as well, can be surfaced thru to your ISP and they can start bottlenecking your bandwidth but that is only if you're doing like GB's on GB's a day.

Also, TPB is probably one of my least favorite sites to get anything from now that Demonoid has been toast.

no it's extremely dangerous. nearly everybody uses it for the thrill of possibly getting viruses. like fucking randoms with no dome

use transmission. lightweight and open source. not ad supported proprietary software like utorrent. Either are probably safe, or at least the far more dangerous part is if you get your stuff from public trackers. Even then you are pretty much safe as long as you aren't dowloading .rar files and stuff

Been using it on my mac for the last year and a half, don't use it often but when I do I'm downloading several gigs. Haven't got a virus, I also stop the seeding the minute it's done downloading.
