Is this what people who don't regularly ski think of our sport?

Looks pretty fun.

I mean there's not really any misrepresentation here, the family ski trip trope is pretty common. This is clearly a rom-com so it's not really supposed to be a reflection of any aspect skiing. The same premise could be applied to plenty of other settings.

I can't wait!

Also, freaking Tormund, in his second ski movie appearance, with Will Ferrel! YES!

If you haven't seen "The Last King" you've been dropping the ball. Game of Thrones with less boobs but like 500% more skiing.

Thats what skiing literally is to over 90% of the skier demographic.

If you ski more than 8 days a year, or even more than every other year. You are an extreme minority in the ski industry.

So can I refer to myself as a minority?

So this is actually a remake of la force majuere, which wasn't really a comedy.

Yet another American adaption that is going to completely fall flat. The original movie was really good, i'd recommend everyone watch it. The acting in the trailer alone for this new movie looks awful, Will Ferrell is so washed up. Tormund is also in the original one.

I stand corrected. Will have to watch the original ASAP. Also, how does Tormund feel about being in both versions of this story? That's ridiculous.

But also, for reference: The Last King is perhaps a perfect movie? Skiing and battle axes? The voice-over in this trailer is terrible, but the film is great.

its hollywood, i dont think a bunch of ski bums cracking PBRs and blazing doinks on the mtn would sell well in theatres.

Oooooo TY. Norwegian culture, skiing, and Tormund are my three favorite things on this planet

like i said in the other thread, not everything put out about skiing has to reflect newschool skiing. this is what the majority of people in the world see skiing as. a fun thing to do with their family. don't make this shit more complicated than what it is.

True. We love dumb shit to watch. You could call it hollywood cuz those movies blew the fuck up and people love them still to this day, even the TV shows like wildboys, Viva la bam, etc. I think all that stuff was just bound for an upward trajectory.

Honestly a movie about mountain town life or something like that could be interesting if its written correctly.

Uh, that would be a pretty good setup for a stoner comedy

This.... new school skiing is actually niche asf

Yes. This is what skiing looks like to like 90% of the people who can afford it. Tourists are what keep the big ski companies alive, or rather, profitable. For example, Look sell around 750k bindings per year, but only tens of thousands are pivots, the rest are mostly rentals.

And this trailer at least represent very well how it's seen in Europe. Because many people there wouldn't consider a drive more than 1:30hr long to be worth a day trip skiing, so it mainly remains a vacation sport for them.
