Here is a video of Jamie Heim skiing around Whistler for DOMY I just saw on unofficial. does some of it look sped up to you?

regardless, the dude is fucking nasty and some of these lines are insane. but a couple times i caught myself going hm was that sped up in post?

can't really tell, might just seem like it because these type of shots are almost always in slow motion

oh no doubt that this guy absolutely slays. just a few parts look a little suspect to me. idk i'm just curious if anyone else had the same thought or can offer any evidence one way or the other

mostly the first 2 lines, especially when he speed checks. just looks a littttle too fast. but then, i guess if it's not sped up im just paying him a huge compliment haha. idk, it just looks a little faster than anything else ive seen
 
could be that his skiing is not the most smooth - making it look fast and choppy.

I recommend watching some film of Tanner Rainville if you want a better eye candy and smooth skiing.
 
bump. anyone else suspicious? i think there were a couple Yes's on the poll. im not convinced at all that it's sped up but i think it's an interesting discussion, esp cause ive heard rumors of other certain people speeding up their footy a little

regardless, the skiing in this video is so fucking nasty so you can't lose by checking it out!
 
could it possibly be the POV angle? Obviously looking down the barrel is going to seem faster than a wide shot? i dunno, looked legit to meeeeee

They are not sped up. There's a POV shot of Richard Permin rallying through the trees at Crested Butte in DOMY that even he thought was sped up when the movie came out. But it wasn't. As an editor I consider that morally wrong.

couldn't hope for a better person to answer this, great. yes i agree-- speeding up footage would be super deceptive.

doesnt surprise me that permin's radness surprises even himself sometimes, dude fuckin slays, as does heim. seriously this video in question is so sick. tell him the best skier on the internet said "well done m8"

Yeah doesn't look sped up to me. Look at the drops (the ones that aren't slow mo), they seem like he's falling at a pretty normal speed.
 
Those first couple lines are sick, but not slowed down. Steep, narrow spines are gonna require quick speed check turns when you're rallying down them. Watch some of Hoji's POV footage when he's rallying down spines, pillows, and coming out the bottom full speed through tight trees... looks fast as fuck - but it's because they are going fast as fuck.

oh believe me, im well aware of the nuances that make this video so impressive, as well as hoji's skiing. there were just a couple spots in here that looked a little quicker than the 1000s of other videos ive seen. i believe gaffney when he says it isn't though. it'd be pretty elaborate deception to speed it up, fix the audio so it doesnt give it away, and lie about it.

anyway, i guess my point now that i know it isn't sped up is DAMN
