ok so ive Search bared and have no idea what to type in.

Is it illegal to have a piece in ur car if it has never been used? Like no res or anything. Its a little wooden folding pice I just bought. Figure il leave it in my car for the time being. Am i good if somehow a cop finds it?
 
Good call, no im not 18 though. Yea thats what the woman at the shop said. What could happen since im not 18? In NY its only illegal for us to buy tobacco not use. Go figure
 
false, it needs to be used to be considered paraphernalia.

it's a tobacco pipe until there is some other sort of resin found in it.
 
atleast in colorado now it would be classified as a tobacco product i think and you could be charged for that but when i got searched the cop felt my can in my pocket and didnt say shit
 
that could go either way, if its a dick cop you could be in trouble. if its never been used just say its for tobacco. NEVER say you were gonna use it for weed, then youll get a paraphernalia charge. if you have weed on you also then chances are its be a paraphernalia charge as well
 
Ah very true. I said I guess cause I wasn't sure how that worked. So advice to the OP, don't ever use it, but when you do don't keep it in your car
 
yea im kinda hoping its that. Idk why im worrying lol. I barely smoke and just want this for skiing and shit because u can pack it then close it shut and just open it to use it.
 
either don't use it or just have the balls to tell the cop he can't search your vehicle without a warrant.

or better still don't be a jackass and never give a policeman a reason to search your car.
 
Yea Im not dumb like that, the thing is I rolled a truck and shit was everywhere thats what im worried about. Not so much being searched.

And for a cop to search your car you either have to give him permission, or have probable cause, such as a warrant (highly unlikely), drugs in plain sight (not if you're not an idiot) or drug dogs to sniff and find something (which they usually don't waste time unless you are a potential dealer, not a kid going to ski)

Might be wrong but if you put it in your locked glove compartment, cops can't open it and search it, right?
 
Unless you give them permission or they get a warrant, and if they call in dogs and the dogs sniff and find something, they can call and get a warrant.
Here is the debate, what if it takes them say 3 hours to get dogs and warrant....Is that a reasonable amount of time for them to detain you on the side of the road? Theres no official law regarding this, at least in New York, and this is the kind of stuff my dad deals with every day in court, reading in between the lines.....
 
ive cleaned alota metal pipes and bowls with rubbing alcohol. idk about wooden tho. it might still work
 
in co they can have a suspicion for example if your car smells like weed or they say it does they can get a warrant to search it
 
It is not illegal. Even if they do have resin in them it is still not illegal. For a pipe to be considered not a tobacco pipe it must have "a usable amount" of said drug in it.
Also, I can say from personal experience that if you are over 18 cops don't fuckin care about pipes. I got arrested and did an overnighter once, and when they rolled up I was blazing and had two pipes on me. They put the pipes with my shoe laces and other personal things and gave them back to me in the morning. One still had the cash end of a bowl in it that they didn't even knock out, so I had a hit for the morning when they let me go.
 
Yea in ny if they smell it or see it they can search your car, but the glove compartment is one of those reading between the lines in NY.......if theres a warrant theres absolutely no question, if there isn't, and you hire a good lawyer, you might or might not be able to get out of it....my advice, don't try it haha
 
they either need a warrant, probable cause or permission from the driver.

and OP, don't boil your pipe. it won't work and it will most likely warp the wood.

also don't even consider using any kind of chemicals such as Simple Green or rubbing alcohol. if you weren't aware, wood has pores that the chemicals will soak in to and once you decide to smoke, guess what you'll be breathing in?
 
If you're under 18, and the cops found your pipe but no substance, I think the most you'd have to worry about would be the cheese phoning your mom and dad and telling them you blaze.
