ive been told some people see this spinning clockwise and others see it spinning counter-clockwise. but for the life of me i cant see it going counter-clockwise.

^gotta click that.

Both. The trick is looking at the foot and its shadow. If you try hard enough you can flip it back in forward. Complete and udder mind fuck

this used to be a fuckin pop up ad. youre really posting a pop up ad? its a trip, thats the point.

Ok. just figured out an easy way to switch. Hold your hand up to the screen and cover the girl all the way down to her ankle thats on the ground. Force your brain to see the foot turning the opposite way. Once you do this, slowly move your hand up forcing your brain to match the spin of the foot

Dude, wtf?? She is spinning clockwise, and at 12 o clock she does a jump clockwise! HTW does anyone see her doing counter clockwise??

or when her leg crosses the other one, imagine it is behind instead of in front, and she will switch rotation

This gif shows the difference between the two interpretations your brain can make

what confuses me is that I understand how the legs can appear to overlap in a way that can make it look clockwise or counterclockwise, but I don't get how her ponytail follows suit.

oh yeah, forgot to mention to cover up one of them at a time, otherwise it is basically the equivalent of crossing the streams, which according to bill murray and dan aykroyd can have dire consequences.

Wow it took me a while to make the switch the first time. Then, once it switches it is hard to switch back the other way. Squinting a lot works to help switch it for me.

our brain is pretty amazing, but in this case it is just a crafty set of repeating pictures, not our brain, that is doing this. If you save the .gif to your computer and look at the separate frames, you see that for any frame besides the one where you see her side profile, depending on whether you decide to call the straight leg the right or left one (it could be either) it could be a picture of her facing towards or away from you. Basically, if you look at it when it is paused, however many degrees you perceive her to be facing away from her side profile, the picture could plausibly represent her facing that many degrees towards or away. This explanation sounds way more complex than it is, just try clicking and dragging to stop it from moving and you will see what I mean.

I saw her turning counter-clockwise, then blinked and now I only see clockwise and can't change it :(

you're an idiot. people can see it both ways (including myself). Depending on what way i want myself to think she is going, she will turn that way.

oh yeah? well look at her hand and foot. the only people here that are idiots, are those who think shes spinning clockwise

holy shit, after i finally got it, i could watch both of them going opposite ways next to each other. i win

that is crazy... for about 5 minutes of seeing it go clockwise and trying to see it the other way i closed my eyes and imagined it going counter-clockwise. when i opened them she was, it was like i was seeing a whole different picture. if you can only see it one way try closing your eyes and imagining it the other way then opening your eyes, its the only way i can get it to work.

lol seriously, the first minute i was like wtf theres no possible way for it to look like shes spinning counter-clockwise, and after i did that trick, now i can only see her going counter lol

i can easily get her to go both ways...like a bisexual

but seriously, just zone out, stare at her foot, close your eyes, and look back and she'll go a different way. get into a different mindset, clear your head

the gif just happens to do it at really random intervals, or when it receives brainwaves from the person watching it telling it to change direction?

supposedly if she goes clockwise youre more right brain oriented (like pictures, art, creative imaginative thinking, charts, etc)

and if you see it going counterclockwise youre more left brain oriented (like lists of text, math problems, science, not creative but can problem solve, logic, etc)

funny cause i saw it clockwise and im nasty at art and im creative but i can solve math problems well cause im asian!

this is confusing the hell out of me cuz i cant tell if its clockwise from this view. IF i looked at her from above i would be seeing counter clockwise, but if i looked at her from below then she would be spinning clockwise.

HOw do you guys determine which way she is spinning, as in i see her spining from left to right.

i just stared at this for like 5 minutes, so you need to look at the shadows, and when they dissapear and come back, after awhile she will switch, and the more you look at it you can control which way she goes!

the first time i looked, i saw her counter clockwise, then i looked away and she was clockwise. now i cant even figure out which way she is spinning

crazy!!!! for me i can make her switch directions pretty easily, you just gotta focus real hard and think about it
