Is this fixable?

So I was skiing down in the woods. Took a drop and landed on a concealed rock. Can this be fixed?

not really.
the edge can probably be epoxied back in, the base can be welded, but that missing part of edge is key. im not so sure.
i know for sure that it wont be back to new.
 
Yeah ,I guessed it wouldn't be back to new. Im just hoping it can be concealed enough that it doesn't warp the woodcore.

If it's a cap construction ski you're going to want to order some new skis very soon. If it's sidewall construction there will be a stronger possibility that they'll be able to take care of it and restore it by removing and replacing that entire section of edge as well as the sidewall and filling in the base.

What skis are they?
 
They def are dumonts, they can be fixed by a good shop. Cut out they busted edge, and retrofit in a new piece, a good base weld and stone grind will have them looking good in no time. Unfortunately, once you start hitting rails again, it WILL tear back out. Only a matter of time. Looking at anywhere from $50-$100 depending on the shop you go to.
 
If you've got a shop that isnt run by bums it can be done, they or you would first use an edge repair kit, usually available from the ski company because if you want it to be legit, most ski companies have different edge sizes (salomon is cheap and uses shitty edges). Then you or the people at your shop would p-tex/weld the rest. Ive seen p-tex/weld jobs 4 inches long/2.5 inches wide. But, this will prolly cost ya around $45 at a shop.
 
keep in mind too, that about an extra inch of edge and base will be removed on each side of the damage, you have to cut out until you reach good, undamaged base/edge.
 
if you want to make it last, maybe try putting that ski on the foot you don't put as much pressure on when grinding. or don't do rails. or just do fast slides.
 
A decent repair shop would be able to fix it. They might charge you $150. Its really not worth it, considering its a cheapass park ski.
 
Yeah it is fixable....but the real question do you really want to spend over $100 to do it. Moreover, there will be no guarrantee that it won't tear out on your next ski day.....

This has happenned to almost every serious skier, and I after a brief period of mourning, wondering why me why me what did I do to deserve this injustice, I would grab a grinder and grind everything down the damage so that it is smooth and voila, a dedicated rail ski. Enjoy doing your worst to destroy your Dumonts, it won't take long.
 
get new parkplanks and keep those for urban/backyard...

it's really not worth the money for an old park plank, i bet you can find those second hand for cheaper than the repair costs...
or you'd have to fix em up yourself, you can get replacement edges and basematerial or just reshape it and epoxy the living shit out of the ski and stop using it for all mountain and just use it for park...
 
This same thing just happened to my friend, minus the edge. We brought it into the shop and they were able to poxy it pretty good. The problem was that the exposed wood got wet and started to delaminate the base from the wood all around it. They said they fixed it for now but couldn't dry it out underneath so it will continue to delaminate and rot. Basically, it's fixed for now... but in the long run it's fucked.
