Is this a Good Deal?

I found a slightly used JVC GZ-HD7 on Craigslist for 500 bucks with all the original accessories with a hardshell case, 1 UV filter and 1 solar polarizer, an external mic, and a small tripod. should I snap this up?

Sounds like a decent deal if its a nice case and the camera is mint. I'd offer a little less if you can and see what happens. Good luck.

yea I'm waiting to hear back from him. originally he had it selling for around 600 but I offered him 500 and he agreed. I might try to lower it after I hear back from him about the quality of the case, camera, lenses etc...

If it says JVC on it and it's not a VCR, don't bother. The only camera brands you should really ever consider, unless you have a special case, are Canon, Panasonic, and Sony. With JVC, you won't be getting your money's worth, get an HV30 instead.

Why? Do some research, watch some videos.

Yea I've been looking at HV30's also. I just can't find one for under 600. Im still not sure if Im gonna take this guy up on his offer. I'll check out the HV30's a little more. I know they're probably the best camera for me, but its the just the price, I'm kinda short on cash right now.

Wait and save it. You'll be happier in the long run. Don't skimp now when the prices aren't even too different...

The hate on jvc is overrated, i shot with a jvc jy-hd10u for a year, it was a decent camera, it came out similar time to hv20, shot 720p and 480p60p. I mean, it was a one chip hd camera with a small chip, but it was a good beginner camera. But still, the hv30 is much better than any jvc camera of similar price.

yea but its pretty hard to find a used hv30 for a similiar price or lower. I'll be filming mainly skiing so the internal harddrive on the jvc might be a problem. I really have no idea whether to buy this or pass. Any more suggestions?
