So I was brainstorming ideas with my friends, and I realized how potentially crazy it would be to illegally immigrate to the U.S.

Living in Maryland, I'm already a U.S. citizen and such, but what about flying to somewhere like Mexico City over the summer and then trying to work my way back to Maryland with only a couple hundred dollhairs.

I'm not sure what laws this would be breaking since I am already a U.S. citizen going back to my own country, but even if I was to get arrested, I'm 17 so I think I would still be okay.

Any opinions on this or legal aspects?

do you realize how much of a shithole mexico is? a cartel recently killed 70 people in a remote village just to prove a point. Do it from alaska back to the continental US
 
yeah and i bet your parents would be down with you and a couple buds flying to mexico city with a a little bit of $ and then traveling across mexico and trying to get across the border illegally.

either start a lot closer to the boarder or be a man and come up from SA through the Darien Gap (much scarier than mexico city).
 
Terrible idea. Like others have said, you would most likely die.

...that, or be kidnapped and forced into being a drugged out sex slave like in Taken.
 
Story time...

My dad, uncle and his wife were backpacking/hitchhiking in Central/south America (~25 years ago) and my aunt lost her passport in Hondurus. At the time, the only US embassy was in Tegucigalpa and they didn't won't to go back, so the illegally crossed the border between Hondurus and Guatemala. Then, it was a Sunday when they were in Guatemala and the embassy was closed. So they crossed into Mexico illegally, at this point, she could have easily gotten a new passport or at least been able to get something, but instead they just crossed into the US without a passport for her. (open border though I think)

Basically, don't be an idiot. The people saying you'll get shot by border patrol are idiots. You'll get robbed/jumped/stabbed/raped by a bunch of Mexicans. Border Patrol is better.
 
Have you ever been to rural/ not tourist Mexico? It is insanely different and you could possibly die from exaustion in those conditions
