Last weekend i dont remember anything specific but my knee that had been giving me trouble got considerably worse pain wise. I went biking the next day and that was pretty painful too. The pain is right at the top of the kneecap (closest to my thigh) and when i rub my knee i can pinpoint the pain. has anyone had this? is it needed of an MRI? i can still walk aroun but its just when im active it hurts.

for my real response, its impossible to get accurate advise on the interwebz...

GO to a doctor, when i was 12 i had the same type of nagging pain in my knee, well i didnt do anything about it, and it kept hurting, then when i finally couldnt take it anymore, i went, and discovered, i had partly torn some ligaments, in my knee playing catcher in baseball....

Go see a doctor.

Now I've said that, well... it could have something to do with your kneecap not being tracked right. I used to have a problem where my outer quads were much stronger than my inner, and my quads in general were stronger than my hamstrings. This produced problems for my kneecap, because it would not be following its correct 'track' and would rub against cartilage underneath. It starts as an aching, especially when weight/force is put on it and it is bent (i.e. walking up stairs).

A huge combination of things caused this, but yeah, go get it checked out. Because my quads were too strong for my hammies, I ended up tearing a ligament and damamging my meniscus. I couldve avoided that if I had done the proper exercises to strengthen my legs.

Now, what I had may or may not relate to whatever's wrong with your knee. Go see a doctor or physiotherapist. They'll sort you out.

umm ice it for another week if it still hurts start heating it and if that doesnt work after like two weeks go see a doctor. oh and if it hurts you should be taking it easy dude.

Ice is good, but Ibuprofen is better.

Try two gel caps and see if it makes a difference.

If it does, your discomfort is mostly due to swelling.

If you have strength and stability still, and discomfort is your only issue, then take some pillz and lay off of it for a while. That's it. You can thank me later.

yea i had the same problem, i have flat feet which makes your outer thighs tighter for some reason and my kneecap wasnt tracking right, luckily i just had a tiny tear in my kneecap cartilage and they had me do physical therapy to coreect it before it got worse

Yeah dude I know what you mean I got it too. Right under my knee cap though. And I think I inflammed the tissues or messed up the ligaments doing way too many brokens this year. Haha.
