I am currently visiting Japan because of relatives and i am wondering if they have freeskiing here. My aunt skis very often and said she had never heard of such a thing and that only snowboarders do this kind of stuff. So does anybody freeski there or does anybody know?

yes, there is freeskiing in japan! there are a lot of japanese riders riding the park, even on a sick powday in niseko....

sure is, heard of the nippon open?Pretty big comp held over there. Of course its not big in comparison to the US but still reasonably big. We get a few Japanese skiers over here in NZ, most of them rip pretty hard too.

because your name is affiliated with ninjas i think your opinion may be slightly influenced, but what do i know

That's because japanese skiers are ninjas, and so have mad rail and jib skills.

Haven't you ever watched En Route Japan?

haha thanks for the laugh guys. and yeah i just didn't know. I figured there had to be some ppl here that freeski but i have never seen it. so now i shall plan a trip up to hokaido for a pow week!

BUY STRICTLY SKIS, they are better than anything in america.

with the exception of a few our ski companies, u.s. companies have the lowest bidder in china to produce skis that cant even be warrantied, this is what k2 does, and whoever else they own...they have no control or input, just a profit margin. Strictly has been a ski company in japan for 40 years or so, the skis are designed and produced in the same building, they are the sickest skis i have ever ridden...they are years ahead of the afterbang.

I think some dude from Japan won the big air at whistler. Whatever it was called. But yea they have there own ski companies and stuff.

Alright. Thanks ppl. And the people showing me the nippon open thanks but no thanks. i didn't need to know there was a competition. I needed to know if people freeski just everyday that aren't pro and everything in japan.

its funny how good a lot of japanese skiers are but the only one anyone really knows about is shoya okazki

here there is

'shinji osada' won the wsi big air in whistler this year with a switch 1440. the japanese are legit, i skied with him an his friends the day after and everyone had a super good vibe, probably the chillest skiers ive skied with actually. i had holes in my pipe gloves and his buddy gami was laughing at my gloves and i was like man im too cheap to buy new ones, no joke takes off his gloves and gives them to me and he was like 'don't worry ill get some free ones from orage take mine'. so now i have these dakine bronco's that say jpn size L. big ups to the japanese.
