So, I've been doing sooo much mountain biking lately. There are a lot of sick places around here and people have built all sorts of crazy stuff in the woods. (see pics).
So my question is, can anyone describe how you go about jumping on these dirt jumps? It's so different than skiing because the bike jumps are all like vertical..
^ I don't really know how to describe it, you just kinda go off em. I find it easier then skiing because from skiing i have gotten much better control in the air.
Hummm.. So, i've watched videos and stuff and it seems like the riders are shifting their weight forward a little.. Kinda like you do when you are bunny hopping over trees and such. You pop your front and kinda lunge forward.. you follow?
Kinda like that? And, the gaps look huge. Some of them are like 6ft+. It seems so impossible
hitting jumps on bikes is a hell of a lot harder but for the amount of air it feels alot like....better and more air than you actually got and transfers seem funner on bmx bikes.
For dirt jumps on a bike you just have to pump the hell out of them and shift your weight. After you do it a few times you'll figure it out. I wanna sesh all that shit that you posted picture of jason. Looks rad.
it depends. no one can tell you how to jump, there are so many different types of kickers, dirt jumps, and drops there is no single piece of advice fit each one. But if i had to guess i would say keep your feet on the pedals and stay loose.
Thanks guys.. Kinda helps. But, i think the sad reality is you just have to go for it. There aren't any smaller jumps around so it kinda sucks. The consequences look pretty rough.
build a smaller one and work your way up. the whole weigh shifting thing is key. maybe build a take off jump thats like 2 ft tall out of wood, and then a dirt landing so as you progress, you can drag it back further. thats how i learned. heres a pic of my old one.
Yeah man.. that's how they are all. If they don't have wood on the front of the landing, they have like a 6' hole in between the taken and the landing. It's really like all or nothing. If you mess up your getting wrecked
