Is skiing pay to win?

The cost of skiing is insane. The more you pay the more benefits you get obviously. For example ski coaches, ski team, season passes, good gear, ski school. The list goes on.

no but yes

you can be gas as fuck without any coaching or special treatment but don't expect to learn triple corks on your own accord

that is why the streets are where comp skiers go to die, thankfully we get awesome content from it.

life is pay to win brother

You could make that argument, but who’s the judge of winning in life? You are. Winning in life comes down to personal satisfaction.

By “you are,” I obviously mean the individuals experiencing their own lives, not the member I quoted… Assholes.

Define winning because if ur talking x games then yeah but if you mean just being a beast and putting out bangers then absolutely not

in a way it is but its really not. If youre dedicated you can make it. Just build a backyard setup and have a trampoline.

if you wanna do anything past 10 good luck doing it on a cheap tramp

any tramp is fine to build air awareness which is the main thing. But even then you can get a membership at a gymnastics place and use their olympic tramps

the thing they made me level up my skiing was learning how to skate. it made skiing seem way easier

I can vouch cuz I had a similar tramp but it's definitely not hard to get past 10 you just need friends. Triples are fucked tho

Thats funny cuz lately I actually thought about making tutorials and calling them free to the play tutorials because skiing is so pay to win. I see too many people clapping butters and press-slides I feel like they just don’t know how to do them properly

pay to play but not play to win. You want to make it somewhere skiing comps you better be well-funded by parents. You gotta compete with academy kids who have school schedules that accommodate skiing, plus you're competing against kids who can ski year round, more or less, with trips all around the world. If you got limited travel and limited airbag access then the deck is stacked against you. That being said, even if someone has all the benefits doesn't mean they're gonna achieve much without working their ass off and having a degree of natural talent. Easy to shit on comp kids and say they're only good because $ but competing is hella tough. at the end of the day i still have a lot of respect for it

Well, duh; the cost of entry is the biggest hurdle. Skiing ain’t cheap but you can keep costs low. Be on the lookout for deals, ride a small hill and not a resort… those things will bring down the first cost issue.

Is it like mountain biking where the better rig will make you better? No. Not by a long shot. A 1100$ and a 700$ park ski will make no difference in competition outcomes.

do you need coaches, psychologists and nutritionists? No. You can teach yourself how to train and how to eat. A coach can help, but friends and cameras are way better for your buck.

Just gotta face it; some people are just more gifted at skiing than others. Its how the world works. It doesnt mean give up, just means gotta be more committed if you wanna win comps.

You answered your own question

The difference is accessibility and athleticism. Would Kai Jones be who he is if he grew up in the Minneapolis suburbs and skied a tow rope and took a once a year trip to Jackson? No. Would Carmelo Anthony be a great NBA player if he grew up in the Baltimore hood? oh wait...

and then you look at people like matej posting super tramp clips in his backyard when he was like 15. isn't a super tramp like 20k+ not including labor?

Never seen that footy I was just saying a 1080 is an understatement of how big you can go on a shitty Walmart tramp. And yeah excavation is super expensive so probably $10k when it's all said and done for a super tramp

doing dubs to flat ground has to be insanely sketch tbf. I suppose it's pretty doable but a whole lot more scarier. I'm lucky enough to have some obstacle course gym w a super tramp and its 15 bucks an hour to use

Yeah the dubs to flat are straight up stupid, I rolled my ankle when I was younger trying those because that video made it look wayyyy too casual haha
