no, if u fall alot, most freeskiers do learning new tricks, than u hurt ur body, if u want sronger legs and core, workout in preparation for skiing, not let skiing only do the workout
Skiing is excellent for you, in moderation. Things like moguls and freeskiing beat up a body when done in large amounts though. Regular skiing, even backcounty skiing, is excellent for you though.
I also have to say that rails are great for balance, and when you fall they build bone density each time you get a bruise, so you're less likely to hurt the bone. Same with jumps.
The BC is great because of the whole physical aspect of it, the hiking and the skiing down sketchy stuff. It's great for your brain too because you need to pick out the line and think about exactly where you are or else you COULD be fucked.
Moguls and park skiing in general though will screw your knees over when you're older because of the hard landings.
If you take care of your knees by speed checking and not landing right AND cranking up your DIN they prolly wont be too bad when u grwo older. PLus, ill bet the medicine will be better in 30 yrs so theyll prolly have knee medicine...
Everyone pretty much said it... although Nordic skiing is an INCREDIBLY good workout and you don't wreck your knees. But it's not as exciting. What's life without risks though, eh?
Coming off my second acl surgery within a year, i guess not. But it's fun as hell. Plus, most sports are rough on your body if you take them really seriously.
For some reason I though this thread title was "Is skiing good for your booty?" and aside from being a little wierded out, I'd say yes it would be cause crouching is essentially squats. As for the rest of you, the skiing itself isnt that bad, its the falling, thats what gets you.
yeah i saiud it can help. liek hiking and just skiing are good but like they said if you charge hard you will pry have knee pain and you can also hurt youself in a lot of ways
depends on how hard you hit it.....without skiing i wouldnt have much leg strength.....i credit skiing to being able to dunk....but i see myself having some knee problems when i get older but i hope not..... its worth it in the end
Id say yes because skiing is wayyyy better than sitting on his watching TV but i admit im lucky cuz actually i never injured myself skiing. Agreed ski is good for mind and pretty relaxing
Freeskiing and moguls will take a toll on your body. However, skiing which isn't in the extremes is probably good since you're exercising at a high altitude (body makes more red blood cells) often.
its not bad when you fall, most of the time its every time you land your putting mass amounts of pressure on your knees and back. sometimes its good to fall, like when you over shoot a landing or something. skiings good for your legs and core.
yeah my back pretty much hurts anytime im not sitting down or in bed, my knees have been really bad in the past but not as much now, but since ive started skiing park my kneecaps have gotten alot looser to the point where i can move them about an inch in all directions... is this like really bad?
it's better for you than video games or newschoolers... so yes. hell you can even get hand problems from video games and computers, that's just was bad as knee problems.
normal skiin is deff fine for u thoe ur knees will prob hert when ur older no matter what kind of skiing u do...park is prob like cancer to a non athletic person it herts u without really noticing it
