Most skiboarders (Brian Class) have converted to skiing, but is the sport really dead? I've seen a shit load of new Line skiboards at my local mountain and the younger kids seem to be getting into them...

 
I was at whistler the past weekend, and hit couloir extreme. hella tight line, but anyways, this skiboarder was in front of me, and he beat me down. the kid had skill, turn after fast turn, never giving up. It hasn't died out, but most people don't do it anymore. however, some talented individuals still do like the guy i saw

i know a kid who goes to my school, hes an amazing rollerblader, 360 off of 12 sets and 540 off of 10 sets. hes got a ton of crazy ass grinds under his belt and some excellent style.

he skiboards, and i bet he has just as much flow and style as any skier here. sure the sport is easier, but he can push is further than anybody here. the guy can do crazy 720 luikangs and 900s with tons of style off of giant jumps. i give him props.

dont hate everybody who skiboards, only hate the jewish people who skiboard.

its very much undead.... the i.s.f group who came up after mikenick, neal and all those guys, were at whislter for a comp this past week, and were doing stuff like kindgrinds down double kinks, allyoop souls, switchups, off axis disasters and so on.... its not dead in the least... it just mellowed out, and is trying to find its place...

skiboarding isnt skiing, its like ice skating down a hill, anybody can do it, takes no skill whatsoever, thats why you see so many people on them fall when they hit jumps, they dont know what the hell they are doing, at my hill its all hockey players that ride those things, i dont have much respect for them unless they are going bigger than i am

ok, i want to know, i've always thought fruitbooting was true rollerblading (guys like brian shima doing torque grinds down 40 set handrails), or is it skiboarding? i know skiboarding pulls alot of stuff from sk8ing, but it's alot differant. go download, buy, steal, whatever, and watch VG20 Roots. sk8ing is alot crazier than most of you would like to believe, and altough some of the guys make certain tricks look gay, a topsoul down a 30 kink handrail to a 1-footed roll across a ledge to switch is sick, no matter how you look at it. the stuff skaters do now is original, and more progressive than anything out there.

before you call me a gay fruitbooter, watch VG20 or any of the new sk8 videos out there. and if your jaw doesnt drop at most of the tricks, you fell alseep during 'the roots conversation'

yah, theres no point in comlaining about how much you hate skiboarders. Since this is a skiing site, there are probably barely any skiboarders to hear your complaints. and the ones that are on here, they most likely dont care what you think

And skiboarding is definately not dead. im seeing many more at my hill this year than there was last year. They may not be freestylers, but they still count as skiboarders.

 
Skiboarding is far from dead. I went out to mont saint Sauveur a week ago to dail my cork 7's and 9's on SKIBOARDS and saw tons and tons of little skiboarders. Of course they looked slopy and funny lookin but thats because they don't know the aggressive side of the sport cuz there is hardly any one there to teach them. Plus there on skinny ass Salomon Snowblades (yuk). Oh for the guy who said that skiboards gets alot of the trix from skiing is BS. Alot of the trix came from inline and snoboarding.

If it wasn't for Skiboards, twin tip skiing wouldn't be around. It was the idea of having 2 tips on a ski that came from us (skiboarders) Personaly I rather be original and ride my Canon M7's or my Line MN Pro's and out trix any of you fools who think skiboarding is dead.

I do agree that there isn't much talk of it cuz Its mainly underground and you only see alot of new skiboarders who don't know what the sport is really about.
