No, Doblin is right.

Among those who believe the commotion over the drug is overblown is Rick Doblin of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, a nonprofit group that does research on psychedelic drugs and whose goal is to develop psychedelics and marijuana into prescription medication.

"I think the move to criminalize is a misguided response to a very minimal problem," Doblin said.

Doblin said salvia isn't "a party drug," "tastes terrible" and is "not going to be extremely popular." He disputes the fact teens are its main users and says older users are more likely.

"It's a minor drug in the world of psychedelics," he said.
 
It only last for 5 minutes or so. you can watch videos on youtube of people doing it.

I can see them banning it though...kinda like how LSD worked in the 1960's. Gov't hates that shit.

so true. if there were better community centers I bet young people wouldn't use drugs so much. if there was an indoor ski slope (they exist, its a sort of spinning disc and you ride the edge) or a wave pool I would be all over that. or go-karts or minigolf, frisbee golf, etc. actually lots of things. i mean basketball courts are fine but not everyone likes basketball.

anyways, they can go ahead and criminalize salvia, I don't really care. its stupid though.
 
salv will never be as good as buds....it lasts for such a short period of time and unless u get very potent the trip seems somewhat uncomfortable to me. even when done in comfortable situations......its fun for a couple of times but it certainly gets old.

noone who's tried salvia would even dream of asking that question. very VERY few people find it enjoyable enough to do often, it's an intense and interesting experience but definitely not fun/recreational. a whole lot of people hate their first time and never do it again.
 
i read that in the newspaper this morning and its kind of lame. salvia sucked ass when i did it when i was like 15. and i did it like 3 times. everytime was stupid
 
thats the best solution they can come up with? make it illegal and give it prison time for something you can't overdose on, is hard to sell, and there's no market for other than in headshops, not to mention its a joke.

but i will say this in support of criminalizaition: the first time i did it I got in my car to drive 10-15 minutes after the trip had ended, or so i thought. even though i felt completely normal and sober i could tell i was driving like shit, much worse than if i were stoned. it was kinda dangerous and i didnt expect that to happen at all. so kids dont go operating heavy machinery just cuz ur vision is back to normal
 
i dont care what anyone says smoking loose salvia (not the extract) gives you a cool ass high very similar to weed and it just lasts about ten minutes. i liked it when i did it.
 
Shits gay. It's kind of blown up at my school going from the stoners to the popular kids, and now everyone wants to do it. I'm sure everyone thinks it'll just be a great 15 minutes, they don't realize it isn't a fun trip...
 
That's a problem with any drug though, people don't know what they are getting into. People just think it's cool and want to do it so people will think they are cool. I've never tried salvia but I'm open to it. I would definitely do it in a safe quite environment either by myself or a very good friend. I'm a very controlling person.
 
fuck no. never. ever. the reason salvia gets a bad rep is cuz people compare it to pot like theyre the same thing. its not even close. at all.
 
i've never tried salvia but i would be open to. really i only want to try that and shrooms and i think i would only enjoy shrooms out of the two enough to do it on an occasional basis. marijuana is just fine for me. actually i don't give a fuck about salvia i need to get my hands on some shrooms though...

its a hallucinigenic drug...if you drove on that shit you would probably get into an accident. most hallucinigens are illegal i dont see what all the fuss is about, its a wonder it stayed legal this long.
 
no it wouldnt be, it only lasts like 5-10 minutes, is expensive, and not in any way addictive. weed will always be the drug of choice
 
anyone who is saying savia is stupid must not have done it right. it is the crazzyist drug i have ever done. it is really uncomfertable and can be scary, so it will never be like pot. also thoughs who are complaining about how it only lasts for a few seconds, i dont know about you but when i did it time slowed way down and i triped for an eternaty. to my freinds with me, i tripped for like 6 minuites. but in my perspective, i lived an eternaty outside of my body.
 
i acually read all the posts, andyou can so tell which people on here have tried slalvia and accually smoked it right. they are the people who are freaking out about how crazy it is and how scary it is
 
no way. not many people want a trip that intense. its also not a recreational drug so it wont catch on like weed. way more people enjoy the high of straight up bud
 
It's not going to be the next marijuana because you can't do shit on it and it's not relaxing. You can go to work high, do your laundry high, ski high, drive high, but you can't do any of those things on salvia. And when I get home from work, I don't want to go on a mind-bending hallucinogenic trip for five minutes, I want to relax for a few hours.
 
wow I went on to you tube to watch some dudes hit that shit, you can really tell the amateurs from the people that do wayyy too many drugs, some kids were just losing it and some black guy did 80x and didn't feel very much.

i dont trust it, salvia is a bad idea...

kids that do it alot get totally re wired and just dont end up the same

kids that smoke lots of pot can quit for a week and totally clear up
 
thats why alot of head shops dont sell it to minors, because minors are stupid and over use drugs.

I think that most drugs should be regulated for adult use, instead of this "even if your old enough to not have as much as an addictive personality, we still tell you how to live your life" bullshit.

yes i include mushrooms, lsd, marijuana, alcohal, and other hallucinagenics in this.

the only things I think should be illegal unless medically perscribed are heavily addictive substances like narcotics, stimulants, and the majority of depressants
 
the first and only time i tried it the trip lasted for about half an hour and wasnt scary just weird and sort of funny
 
i got it once and tried it but we got like the 30 x or 40 x shit and i sparked a big ass bowl and honest it was like insta fuck up i walked and sat down on my friends porch and the hole side of my face just like felt numb and i was retarded and seeing shit and it scared the fuck out of me... have never considered it again and it fucked up weed for me which is prolly the biggest set back of it for me i know it is prolly nothing but it's jsut a panic problem or something
 
i liked it nd plan on doing it sometime in the future. It only lasted 5 mins for me though and it is deffy not something you would do often. All i would do it for is inspiration, so much wierd shit happens.
