Is roller blading core

I’m appreciating the clips you guys are putting in this thread. Because all I really have to go off of is Alex broskow and Kelso’s edits. And to see regular people trying stuff is good. Because rails are scary and super intimidating. Idk if I’ll ever really commit to learning them

Build a p-rail with some pvc and 2x4s! Low consequence, portable, and cheap for locking in that muscle memory. There are tons of youtube videos on different ways of building them.

if i gave a vibe of “rollerbladers are stupid”, that’s not what i intended. my issue is with people who stand in bad spots/snake and aren’t receptive to advice. same goes for on mountain.

i think the whole “rollerblading is gay” stigma is over exaggerated. as a rollerblader in my youth the shit i got was pretty minimal.

really i think main factor came down to skateboards not being attached to your feet. think of the amount of tricks you can do with a skateboard in an empty garage vs rollerblades. my guess is people with rollerblades ran out of the equipment/obstacles they needed to “progress”, but people with skateboards had enough to keep going even on rainy days (Jamie Griffin grew up on a Scottish farm or some shit lol).

and tbh, i wouldn’t watch rollerblading if it were vert centric like in the 90s. thank god for people like Them Skates and okboston (Taylor’s a homie and the reason i started blading).

Fair I just read that last paragraph and the way it was written irked me. Skateboarders never really chirped or fought rollerbladers anywhere besides California from what I've heard, and the reason the gay joke hurt rollerblading is because it discouraged people from getting into it, not because people already riding blades were really offended and quit riding.

There was beef tho, there's some videos out there of people smacking rollerbladers with skateboards and other assault stuff but definitely some Cali shit. Never experienced anything on the east coast and eapecially in inner city areas.

I do agree that street and rail skating is way cooler than vert tho and on the more tricks thing, I think technically there are more "tricks" for flat ground inline than people think, like mushroom skating and wizard skating. They're just way harder and seem more like "dancing on flat ground" so it has been seen as less cool for a while. Like Danny beer has that video on Thems YouTube with less than 3 grinds and it's one of the best edits I've ever seen cuz he's just fucking around but making it look so good that it's actually fun to watch

damn i’m fully down a rabbit hole lol.

joey murda 17 years ago. dude had more core in his unbuckled helmet than i do in my whole body. funny enough this edit is on NS, but it’s a dead link

learning how to soul is hard coming from skiing. First instinct is to jump on top of the obstacle but you should think about locking in by pressing your frame into the side of the ledge and angling your soul plate over it, it's a pretty weird feeling.

Here’s a clip of a royale. Took the worst shinner of my life learning this lol

Not going to lie, looking like Malibu's Most Wanted while moving round on little wheels seems funny to me. I wonder if that's what people thought about the early 2000s ski look?
