Is 'Powder' Magazine Any Good?

My girl got some free magazine subscriptions and picked 'Powder' for me (Freeskier wasn't one of the options). So is this mag any good? The website makes it seem pretty cool, anyone subscribe?
 
Powder is legitimate. They have great articles with good writing. Photographs are great as well. Less park orientated than Freeskier, which is obvious based on even just the name.

Definitely a good magazine though.
 
I'd say more in between Skiing and Freeskier.

Ski is far too catered to schlepping one-piecers.

Take this for an analogy.

Powder is TGR, Freeskier is NS. Both are great, but have seperate focus than each other.
 
i disagree. ski is for rich gapers and that magazine sucks. its all about what ski area has the best food, real estate, and how much they can suck deer valleys nuts.

This analogy will help you understand everything you need to know:

NS is to Freeskier as TGR is to powder

just a different magazine with mostly big mountain content
 
Powder is something I look forward to reading cover-to-cover, every issue.

(same with freeskier though haha)
 
powder is so legit. they have a variety of way cool articles, and the photography is m-azing. and it it definitely not anything like Ski magazine.

Powder is the ski mag!! unlike all of the other mags, the photos are actually good, the stories are increadibly worth reading, and it usually dosn't suck.
 
the creator of this thread is a Goddamn idiot, how can you ski and not know about Powder.

logan, ski magazine is rad, so is freeskier.

It's always good to read up about the resort experience, theres more to a ski vacation than just skiiing.

Its the apres, the restaurants, the lodging plus the skiing which makes a great ski vacation
 
uhh thanks, I started skiing last season...NYC bookstores don't have a lot of skiing magazines, I don't know why, with all the huge hills and great powder in the city you would think there would be a lot more....
 
sorry man, it just seems a little ridiculous that you were able to find this site and you haven't stumbled upon an issue of powder at a newsstand.

I live in Georgia and you can get Powder everywhere
 
powder mag is great. i always enjoy reading it cover to cover and the pictures are always really sick.
 
Powder is one of the only ski mags I read all the way through. such good stuff. mostly powder and big mountain skiing. Do you live in Canada? Skier sbc is great and talks about everything. Great articles, sense of humour with photo quotes and articles. It's the other mag that I read all the way through.

i completely agree with you. powder is sick and ski is just shit. i can not read anything in it. when they rated all the resorts, one of the categories was "family friendliness" or something like that. it was pathetic
 
NYC bookstores do have Ski Magazines, a good amount actually you can probably find Powder most places as a lot of resorts target those working and living in New York City as pottential guests.
