If your like me and you think that punk, or the spirt of punk, can only be found in the rebelious heart and in the mind, that it is more a state of being and a life style than it is just a type of music, Then you can agree that since it comes from the heart and the mind, it is somewhat of an emotional state. Emotional states do traditionaly have colours atached to them and we all know that a colour can influence our moods (its why at most schools the lockers are painted ugly colours because then people wouldnt want to hang around them, its the same at fast food resturants that dont want you to stick around and chat after youve eaten) We even ascoiate colours with lifestyles. Purple is representitive of the gay comunity now, but prior to that it was associated with royalty and the arostocratic social cast. So is pink the best colour to represent punk as a life style and a state of mind? It probaly was at the beginning of the fad -- thats how fads start. People began to wear pink to set them selves apart from a social norm that no one wears pink for fear of ridicul (one which i know i grew up with in the public school system). It was a bold statment saying "I dont care what society thinks, Im going to wear what i want - you can all go fuck yourselves" At the time, pink probaly was the pest colour to represent the spirit of punk simply because of how were were brought up. But i personaly dont think that its the best colour to represent it anymore because of how main streem it became. Just like how purple isnt really the best colour for royalty anymore becase of its strong connections to the homosexual comunity.
I put way to much thought into this answer. God my life is so boring...
