Is PC really going to open wensday?

It's supposed to be like Lows of 10 highs of 26 or something for a couple days in LCC. Not sure about PC but it's still great snowmaking weather even if no precipitation happens.

no it is definentily going to open because they have ben making a ton of snow and the nights are really cold too. homerun stays in the shade pretty well so the snow isnt melting that much in the day

I am sure they will open but it wont be great hopefully they will get some rails up...I was at Solitude today it ok,nice soft groomers...

its lame, i have to go ski in wisconsin for thanksgiving before i ski PC! gah! but this way it will fell like a really long vacation when i come back

where does it say that on the PC site? cause it has said they moved it back from when they originally did...

She is writing up a press release right now, so as soon as I get the email, i'll post it here.

And, the high on sunday was 63 degrees which was a record. the previous record was 53. So it was a VERY warm weekend with no ability to blow snow. Just had to watch it melt.

Check back in the park updates in the next little while and i'll post it as soon as she releases it public.

Ok, she didn't release it before she went home so here is a quick round up... It's been a very warm weekend with low to no snow coverage at the base, on first time run, and the run from the top of payday down to the base isn't covered 100%, has gravel patches in a few spots. There is no humanly way possible to blow enough snow in 15 hours tomorrow for a wednesday opening. There's not going to be the amount of snow we would prefer for a friday opening, but that's what we are aiming for. As far as the park setup is concerned, it is still up in the air. The snowmaking team told me we would have a knee deep run of snow where we are going to put the park, so the features will be built accordingly. What accordingly means at this point, who knows. We will go out and keep an eye on how our portion of the run is doing as they blow snow, and the call as far as features will be made later in the week.

Thanks for the patience everyone.

tuesday night snowfall possibilities

and maybe even thrusday for alta

is PC prices going to be 80 bucks for 1 run?

wow this sucks...western areas should invest more money in more productive snowmakeing systems like are at Killington or other east coast areas...at Killington they could go from grass to like 25% of there total trails open in like 2 days of snowmakeing...

We can go from grass to an open run in about 3 days. We try to open homerun with the 70 acre feet of snow which is deeper than knee deep in most spots I believe. BUT, when we can't blow for a full day straight, it cuts down on the ability to make snow. We haven't had more than 10 hours of blow time yet this year, but as long as the forecast holds for this week we should have at least 2 or 3 days of blow time. Also, east coast resorts have 4- 6 times the amount of snow guns on one run as we do. We normally don't need to open the entire resort off of snowmaking out here, we just make it on the most used trails, homerun, claimjumper, payday as it makes for a really good base. Manmade snow has alot higher moisture content which bonds together alot tighter and makes a really good base for snow to fall on.

Also, it's been super warm. the high on sunday was a new record. The previous record was 10 degrees colder. I'm looking forward to december, where the long range forecast has always been showing an above average precip and average temps.

just put out the press release Paula released to the media, it has some info on the ability of snowmaking at different temps as well. We WILL be open friday. I'm working instead of mowing down on turkey thursday as well as a few of my guys so we will also have park features up as well.

nice anyone know how much a day pass will be ...(sucks, that i am not working yet and cannot get a tripple play yet)

dank. i'll bring you some left overs friday!! probably not actually... but it's the thought that counts.

wooo I get to call off work again for the third time in a week and a half. I can't wait plus I'll bring a backpack full of turkey sandwhichs for you mike.

So here is what I wrote in the park city forum yesterday, just so everyone knows and there aren't rampant rumors.

'I was just informed by mountain management that opening weekend won't hold a park in store on homerun. I was told that they are trying to make enough snow to cover the run, and by friday there won't be enough snow in our area to push for any features. They have said we should have enough snow by sunday afternoon to start building but it is supposed to get warm again so the snow right now is being used to make sure that homerun is covered.

Again, no park features on opening day, we were informed today, and they are telling us early next week will be a time when we will have enough snow to start building the park.

Sorry guys, thanks for being patient, no hate mail please... '

Ya, we tried to barter in a couple features but it's better to pick a "battle" you can win, and those "battles" happen later in the season. So early next week is our given time to start the park...

oh and pricing, 50 full day and 35 half day adult pricing. 7-12 year olds are 30 and 20 and kids 6 and under are free. The pricing will step up as more terrain opens so i'll let you know when that happens.
