Is newschoolers the best online community?

I've been thinking about this for a while... and I've realized that newschoolers is a really unique website in the sense that it is an online community that plays a major role in the development of a sport. When you look at other action sports, or any sport really, you just dont see any kind of website that brings the entire sport together. I'm kind of fumbling my words here, but what im saying is, theres no newschoolers for skating, snowboarding, surfing, bmxing... (or is there?). And newschoolers has had a huge impact on the sport. it has allowed certain companies to grow and become popular, it has spread trends, it has helped turn kids from pros to ams, it has helped styles emerge, new tricks to be learned... its just a ridiculous influence. without this website, i honestly think that skiing would be at least 4 years behind where it is. Its really incredible that this site exists and has managed to form skiing into what it is. seriously.. imagine how much different our sport would be without this website...

You're right. What really impresses me is the way that sooo many kids accept NS as a given with skiing. It goes hand in hand. It grew from one man's idea into a legit community. All these people, from GrandpaSteeze to Lil_G, who have seemingly nothing in common, get together on this website because of one thing: skiing. It feels like there's way more love/contribution/collaberation here than on any Burton or redbull forums or whatever.

There is a little too much hate, but that goes up in the summer, and then slowly as winter comes along, people have less hate. NS definately influenced me to wear mor baggy clothes, and I really don't see that ever changing.

And not only does NS have a huge influence on the sport but the layout is probably the best ive ever seen in any site

yeah i was thinking about that the other day to and i totally agree with you. if it wasn't for newschoolers skiing wouldn't have evolved to what it is. some people might think of skiing as gay or stupid. especially some snowboarders. but since newschoolers has become more popular freestyle skiing is more of a mainstream sport.

yeah man, i think about this all the time. and no, pinkbike isnt like this at all... this is the only forum i can actually stand, since its interface isnt like all the other ones, if you know what i mean. this is truly unique and im happy to have been on this site before all the changes(411)....

I can't really compare because NS is the big "online community" I'm part of

I'm pretty sure, in true honesty, that there are better online communities out there, but the fact that NS is the bigget and best one for skiers is a definite plus.
