Is my house haunted?

So my house has always had weird things happen in it. My parents have both seen things but never told me or my brother unless we brought up the subject with things we've seen ourselves.So here's the backstory:

When we bought our house, which was built in 1989, it had been sitting empty for over a year. Nothing bad ever seemed to have happened in it.

The old:

1. My dad tried to open the door to my parents room and it would budge. He pulled as hard as he could but it didn't move. He turned to look at my mom and when he tuned back and tried again it opened right up.

2. One night I woke up to the sound of multiple doors slamming. When I opened my eyes my door was slightly open and there was a figure standing in the doorway. It slowly backed away. I got up and went into the hall and all the doors were closed.

3. My dad has said he's seen "figures" of a short boy and tall man. No clue whether I believe him or not but we had a serious talk about this recently and he seemed very serious.

4. One day i was home alone on NS, of course, sitting in my room. My dads office is behind my room. I heard a few drawers slamming. I went in to see if it was my dad but all the lights were off and no one was in there.

The New:

My parents recently got divorced and my mom moved out ( I still live in the house with my dad and brother). More activity has been happenening since this.

1. A few days ago my dad woke in the night to the feeling that someone was "sitting" on the pillow next to him. He the felt this "thing" get up and leave.

2. Yesterday I got a yogurt from my fridge. I then went outside (to urinate cause im too lazy to aim for the toilet) and when I came back inside my fridge door was open. I had made sure it was closed completely because my dad is ocd and freaks out if we leave it open. It had suctioned closed.

3. Today I was watching a video on youtube on my desktop in my room. I paused it halfway through and turned off the monitor. few hours later I was watching tv in my dads office, behind my room, and got up and went downstairs to button up (im home alone) i.e. make sure doors are locked and garage door is closed. As im downstairs I hear talking. I walk around to see where it is coming from but cant find the source. I go back upstairs to find that the video is playing, from the beginning, on my pc.

I am still home alone but leaving for a friend because im a little freaked out. SO what do you think, strange coincident or possible haunting.

 
i think out of all the make believe shit, i would be least surprised if ghosts were real.call taps. they will debunk the shit out of your house.
 
I read it and those things are probably scary if you experienced them.. but it wasn't really convincing to me
 
only one way to find out. wait till your alone at night, turn all the lights off and light a couple candles, then blaze fat in silence and see what happens
 
you think ghosts inhabit your house.

what makes you so special that people that have passed on would hang out with you, im sure they have more important things to do, like catch up with the many dead celebs.
 
I lived in a haunted house. People can hate but I believe. It's just some of that shit you have to experience yourself. Like it's easier to not believe than believe. But yeah man thats some creepy shit. This will sound lame but set up cameras or do a voice recording over the course of like two weeks. watch the footy every day and You may be surprised on what you catch.
 
i didnt read your post BUT YEST YOUR HOUSE IS HAUNTED.

everyones house is haunted, theres spirits living everywhere. anyone you've ever known thats passed on is living with you right now.
 
hm well some fuckers like taps may debunk the shit out of everything you said like that kid said but idk it seems kinda wierd. i would say investigate if you have the balls. O.o
 
hey man kids will hate on this but I know what you're talking about.

I work night construction at my old highschool and sometimes I hear noises and talking in certain rooms and when I walk into the room theres no one there. Also I hear this strange screeching/screaming noise sometimes. I mentioned it to the guys I work with (only 3 other guys besides me on nights and they're all really chill middleaged men) and they've said they hear it too and when they go to check it out they cannot find where its coming from.

I've talked to the custodial staff and they all confirm the same things have happened to them. They also told me before construction ever started they witnessed these same occurences.

They proceeded to tell me that the school was built on an old Indian area (Trumbull CT) apparently we used to have a lot of indians living around us until us white men pushed them out rather harshly.

The really creepy thing is that the highschool is huuuuge to walk around the outside sidewalk surrounding the school its over a half mile so there are tons of rooms and things that happen.

To be honest I'm feeling a little strange now about working there. The custodians say that no one has worked there for longer than a couple years because they either transfer or retire for uknown reasons...

or maybe we're all just on crack?

anyways I know what you mean man, sometimes wierd shit happens and there is no explanation.

it seems unlikely that a house built in 1989 would be haunted. i dont think ghosts tend to hang out just any where you know... that being said you could have young ghosts that dont know whats up maybe still trying to live in the house. or maybe there are spirits stalking your family all you can hope is that they are not offended by your presence i would say this sounds like the type of situation that would warrant attempting to communicate with your "ghost"
 
imma pm you cause im from ct and im interested one. and two i say you get the fuck out of there before it fucks with your whole life. when the ghost shit gets real its freaky.
 
I'm not totally sure if I really believe in ghosts, but it's kinda hard to believe that every single account of some unexplained noise, sight, etc. is complete bullshit. While there may be legitimate paranormal activity, I would either setup some video cameras or sound recorders (the latter might be more practical). Another idea. Invite someone to sleepover that has never been told about these supposed paranormal activities. See if he witnesses or hears anything suspicious, that way you can be sure his mind isn't just messing with him (yours could be). I have had some weird stuff happen while exploring old barns and stuff with my friends. Chances are my brain is just imagining these strange happenings because I am expecting them to be there. You could always contact a paranormal expert (chances are they are full of BS), but it's more fun to investigate yourself.

Just had a really good idea. In rooms where "haunting" seems to be frequent, arrange objects in a specific manner (certain drawers open, cabinets left open, place a pen on the edge of a table, etc). Take photos and then check the objects once you wake up.
 
Great reading this got be all worked up, and I need to go to bed. Why am I such a pussy about this kinda shit??

Unless someone was murdered on your property or in your house I say youre fine. Go to town records if you want to figure it out.
 
my old middle school is haunted and not just one thing happened there, like some sketchy shit went down.

aparently one of my teachers was working outside in this courtyard thing in the middle of the school and theres windows to all the classrooms and all of a sudden one by one a computer screen turned on but from one room to the next like a second apart from each with like five in a row and then they just all turned off. there were multiple witnesses too.

one time my gym teacher was working late and he heard all the boys gym lockers slamming shut and re-opening and then slamming so he went in to see what the fuck was going on and the lights were off and no one was in there and the lights were off.

also theres this massive like cellar thing under the school thats like 200ft by 300ft and in like the 90's some wierd group broke into it and sacrificed a lamb or some shit.

there so many other wierd stories about it too. its kinda scrary too think i went there for three years
 
um... i remember my US society teacher saying that hes just heard sketchy sounds working late like multiple times and was too freaked and hes just left cause he couldn't handle it. this also happened with other teachers working late and they all comfirmed it with eachother.
