Is my DIN to high?

Considering most of the kids on here think that at least 12 is necessary... probably not. It depends a lot on what you are doing. I'm 5'7 and 110 and my race skis were set to 7 cause losing both meant end of race. My park skis are set at 6 which is still on the high side for my size and park.

Think of it this way, if you fall, its always better for your skis to come off. In regards to jumps, the worst injuries I see are when peoples skis dont come off. Ive seen plenty of amazing skiers lose their skis and do the traditional skate bail. Way better on bigger jumps.

8 could be a tad high, but I don't know your skill level. Chances are your shop was right in setting it at 8. Just don't listen to anyone who tells you that you need a din of 12+ to be a good skier.

im 6ft 160 and i ride at 12, its skiing type and how easily you want your skis to come off
if you're not sure, trust your shop, if they keep popping off or they never come off, adjust accordingly

correction, pipe are set to 6, park are set to 5.

I like to eject when I hit boxes wrong... Ive seen kids with their din set way too high and hit a box or rail totally wrong and just watch their legs get so twisted.... cringe.

Pipe... I'm more worried about my neck than my skis ejecting.

It's also dependent on the size of your boot, so that could be a factor too.

The chart puts me at a DIN of 10, and I'm 6 foot 185. This works pretty well for me for pow/big mountain/cliffs etc. I always tell them I'm a skier type of III instead of III+ when mounting park skis, because they will set them at 8.5 instead and I like that extra leeway in the park. My knees are valuable.

Yep. the 3 factors for binding adjustment are Height, Weight, and boot

sole length (BSL) I normally specify tupe 3 skier as well, and just

leave them at what the shop sets them. With Look/Rossi bindings, I've

never had my skis release when I did not want them to, or in a small

fall. Always better to be on the lower side than the higher....popped

off ski > toasted knee.....obviously.

To to OP....whats your boot sole length?

Honestly, it all depends on your level of skiing mixed in with your weight and height. if your a really dedicated park skier at that height and weight then id say yeah 8's too high. but if you like to rip up all aspects of the mountain and lean more towards the advanced/expert side of the spectrum, then 8s probably about right for you. just one mans opinion though

go to http://www.dinsetting.com/ and figure out your basics. Then adjust it for Skier Type - if you think u r the supreme skier or just a mortal. The rest of the stuff is fixed.....weight , height, bootsole, age don't change much.

Or if u want to see the chart http://www.dinsetting.com/dinchart.htm .

These charts / setting were made for skiing on snow and carving etc.....not hitting rails hard and crash landing jumps and switch..... So decide....do u want ur ski t come off or do u want your ski to come off with part of your leg still attached to it?

good luck
