So theres this girl im in to, shes insanley pretty and is a good person. me and her are friends and earlier tonight she piked me up to drive me to a party but the party got cancelled and we just sat around and talked about stuff. one of my friends went out with her for like a year and there relationship ended horribly, and they both are in a love/hate status. should i try to get with her because im interested or just lay off

If she doesn't ski and your friend does, ditch that hoe. However, if she skis, and he doesn't, then that friendship is basically worthless
 
I was in the same situation about a year and a half ago. I asked my buddy and I quote "hey man, I know you guys dated for about 2 years but I was wondering if it was alright if I pursue your ex" this dude was my best friend. And said "yeah man, as long as you don't think it would be awkward for us." Now we don't talk but he's an alcoholic loser working part time retail and I'm fucking his ex to this day. We ski, skate, drink, eat and play video games all the time with eachother. I'm glad I went with the decision I did. It worked out well. I even pee in her but sometimes op.

No shit. Idk why people find it so hard to talk to people and be straight up. Call your friend right now and say "hey man, I know blah blah blah happened, but is it cool if I pursue this girl because I am really in to her and I wanted to check with you first out of respect" and chances are he will be stoked you are so straightforward and honest about it, and say ya go for it man. Or he will tell you if he still has feelings for her or whatever. and then next time you are with her tell her exactly how you feel, and why, and what your concerns are with pursuing her. That way it's all out there and you don't have to waste everyone's time giving you advice and your own time wondering about what could happen.

But just my 2 cents, im guessing you are in high school based off the picked up to go to a cancelled party situation because that doesn't happen often after HS, and a year long relationship in high school is a pretty long time. Chances are they still have issues with each other and if it's an extreme "love/hate" like you said one of them def still has feelings for the other one. If they were both over each other and done there wouldn't be any love/hate, just mutual discontentment and then both of them would be over it and move on from each other without fighting or anything still.
