make gaps inbetween rails and jumps onto the rails? like all the rails have to be ride on. Thats what someone told me and it kind of makes sense because all the rails at Hunter are ride on and shitty.

 
its not true, but all the rails at most places are ride on for the surplus of bad snowboarders

yes that is true, everyone rides in the park and rails that have a gap to them are far more dangerous to unexperenced skiers/snowboarders then rails without gaps to them.

we used to have a no invert polkicy but it's gone...I didn't care anyway...and we do have gaps onto rails too (whiteface)

Yeah alot of places around cant have a gap onto rails because of the insurance policy they carry. Mostly smaller mountains that dont want to pay the big bucks to have a hugely progressive park, but just something to keep business up a little.

 
thing is, i find rails with gaps sooo much safer for me. soo much.

I find that small gaps are better for skiiers. More time to turn a full 90. Some times on the ride-ons I'll only get like 70.

In MI it's also illegal to use a ski lift with a snowboard with no leash. Bohemia is really gay about it.

now that i think about it my hill might have one to but they set the rails up so theres a ride on section in the middle and then like off to the side theres a jump so u can gap on, it works out alirght

 
The hill I ski at in Ohio just put their first gap to about a 30 foot box and it's so sick. It's also nice because it weeds out so many people because 90% of the people in the park are so scared since it's not a ride on. We had a ride on rainbow and now a ride on A frame, battleship, and C rail, all of which are almost unhittable because of the poor quality up to the rail.

In my opinion they should make more gaps to rails because in our hill's case, it weeds out worse skiers and boarders. In most cases, somebody who is unsure of their abilities will not hit it because they realize it's a little more ballsy. And if those big talkers really want to show off and wreck, that's their problem. But it's those people that cost the resorts money in insurance policies...

i hate ride ons, where i ski we dont have them but we only have shitty rails, at the other place not to far from here they have sick rails but there all ride ons, it's gay.

all we have is ride ons, thats all were allowed to have. we have one 21 foot flat rail with id say a 2 foot gap at the most and theres only few people that hit and one of them is a fucken 9 year old snowboarder who greases it like nothing
