Is it really worth it? - Questioning NS

I'd first like to say that NS is a great site, lots of good info and a (mostly) great community.

I've just started wondering though, where I would be without NS. I'm almost positive my marks could be 5-10% higher and I'd be spending less time dicking around on the internet. I would probably get a lot better at guitar too.

If you think about it in the big scale, NS is kind of pointless. Freeskiing is an upper-class suburban lifestyle sport that has little affect on society. There are many more important things in the world that aren't a skiing website.

The conclusion that I've come to is that NS is a source of entertainment, and I'm spending too much time on here (as I'm sure others are too). I wonder why just skiing when I can isn't enough pleasure for me, why do I have to continue my hobby into the wee hours of the night on this site...

[/end thought]

clearly ns is here for you to release your bs rants, you might be saving some lives by not pissing off people you know who dont give a shit about skiing, i dont give a shit about this rant btw, im just prepping to go skiing tomorow, hollllla

I've always thought the same thing, but I don't think I'd quit. You meet a shit load of people that you wouldn't, good networking I guess? But just don't come on here as much...

NS = procrastination

Procrastination = worse grades = bad

NS = Good

Wait what...?

But honestly, NS has actually improved my skiing.

Its made me love skiing more.

Its made more long nights for me...procrastinating.

Totally worth it!

1. Skiing is a hobby

2. NS.com is a website & forum dedicated to that hobby. It offers extensive amounts of information on all aspects of our sport.

3. Skiing is addictive

4. NS.com is addictive

My grades have fallen too..it's the nature of the sport & the site that makes people keep coming back. I guess it's just the way it is.

Skiing...would be a SPORT thank you very much. It frustrates me when hockey players say skiing isn't a sport.

its very worth it. the internet is pretty boring. i do my rounds of checking email, facebook, maybe craigslist, and then the majority of my time is spent on NS. im actually entertained and laughing for hours sometimes. its great

Wow your pretty much saying that you have to ration out how much your allowed to like your own hobby. If you like your hobby, it's your passion, and a website to help share your passion with others is a great way to connect

be honest, if you weren't wasting time on ns, you'd be wasting it doing something else. like playing computer games. or masturbating. or selling crack.

see, ns is saving you from a life of drug addiction and fear. be grateful.

agree, Ns is somewhat pointless, and it is a source of entertainment and an addiction, which i am feeding right now

TV saved me from books...Starcraft saved me from TV...Counterstrike saved me from Starcraft...NS saved me from Counterstrike...hmmm what do do now...

i wouldnt know anyone to ski with without ns. well i mean i would but i wouldnt know them as well as i do.

i used to be a NS-addict few years back, but now i'm actually pretty bored when i come here. i guess the quality has dropped.

it's not ns that makes your grades fall, it is your own laziness and procrastination. there are plenty of people who are on here very often that still manage to succeed in the other aspects of their life.

those of you who blame ns for your grades dropping would just find something else to do instead of your schol work or actual work if you quit ns, and things would continue to suffer.

if you are so pathetic that you need to blame website, which you willingly log onto each time you use it, for your personal failings in school and your life goals, you should really realign your perspective on life and realize that all of your problems are a direct result of you and your approach to your world.

Bah, who am I kidding. I love the sight an all, but i'm just finding myself too involved in it?

I also didn't want to portray that I'm blaming this on the sight itself. It's all me. I'm just going to go on less than I have before, make it less of a habit and more of a "hey i'm done my school work and i'm ready for something fun to do" kind of thing.

Word..not a claim, but i spend a shitload of time on this site and now that i think about it - i'm heading into my final year of university and i'm sitting very close to a distinction average, and have never failed a subject.

So blaming NS for grades is fucking bullshit, it's your own stupidity/laziness/procrastination/bad time-management etc etc.

Am I the only one who's grades have actually come up since i started really using this site?

In high school? my grades blew.. i graduated with a 2.5 or something shitty.

in college? I'm a B student. WOOT.

It's not a sport unless you are entering competitions. Otherwise, it's just something we all love to do.

its an individual sport. theres lots of things you could apply that thinking to.. mountain biking, skateboarding, swimming.

you can partake in the sport on different levels though, like as a recreational person, a competitor, a professional etc

NS has changed my life in a good way. I haven't gone snowboarding once this season!

as for the procrastination with school work, it's not THAT bad. except for today, and maybe yesterday. and a few times last term and a lot the term before... before that, it was another site.

So guys playing basketball or football games in the street arent playing a sport unless they are in the NBA or NFL?

I love to ski. I consider myself an athlete because of it. I sweat sometimes while I do it. Then it freezes to my armpit hair. It hurts if it gets pulled on. Therefore, it is a sport.

normally I don't give a fuck. But i'm doning summatives and shit right now and i've got shitty time management. i realise.

but do you ever wonder where you would be without NS?

also it is site, not sight. my bad
