Is it possible to poch the summer camps lanes

2 summers ago I went up to whistler for a month in the summer. it is definitely possible to poach, you just gotta stay low key and look like you belong there.

High North usually knows who is riding their lane since the camp is pretty small, but COC is a huge park and the coaches don't seem to know every single kid there...

never tried momentum or dave murrays.

basically though you can ride for a month for the cost it would be for 1 week at camp. its awesome. plus the windlip sessions are dope.

I don't know anything for sure but I've heard COC is locked down pretty good... "...might as well have barbed wire fencing around it."

good luck at COC this year. i mean, i know a way you could get in, but im not gonna say it because that would be lame.

I'd be one pissed off camper if a bunch of other kids were poaching the course. Then again, I'd be much appreciative of being a camper seeing it costs a small fortune.

ahaha 2 years ago they didnt even have fences near the bottom of the course, and plenty of times i just skied right in through the top.

obviously they are gonna say 'oh we put up crazy fences and you need a special id card that has your finger print on it...' lets face it, they are skiers, they are most likely lazy potheads who dont know whats going on. and i mean that in the best way possible.

yeah people said it was "hard" last year, and we got in there alot soooo easily. and if you do get caught, just say where's the tent yoo demo skis at? cause they let you go in just to demo skis.

i bet windells would be easier though, just wear a typical setup and it will be easy, like brown or black pants and a white or black t shirt or longsleeve.

I don't know about two years ago, but last year, COC was probably the most "secured" camp.

you had to have wrist band and show it to the dude in charge pretty much eveery single lap.

windels is pretty easy, just don't be an idiot, though the public park at hood is legit anyway, especially if the slopestyle course is open, that's better than the camps.

Children... you realize that by doing this, you're making peoples' jobs much more difficult? If you don't have the money, you don't go to camp. Don't poach. If it were me running it, the penalty for getting caught would be charges being laid.

last year when i was at momentum a snowbaorder tried to poch the lane and the coaches were like dude come on leave...he acted like he just got lost.....yea ok.....kid was a dumbass...but it was amusing none the less....but the coaches at momentum pretty much know who is on theri group for the day...and who they have had....or at least recognize most of the campers....

camps are not even worth paying for, that shit is expensive, but i guess its not if your rich mommy and daddy are paying for it

Why do you have to act like a bitch? Sorry that camp kids were blessed with rich parents. I cant afford camps, if I did it would be a once in a lifetime thing and you don't see me trashing other kids because I'm jealous they get to go to camps.

yeah, you guys realize that the camps cost so fucking much partially because of you doing this right? their insurance rates go way high if theres people in their park without a signed waiver and with or without a helmet.

Dude you should be grateful enough that you are there and able to ski almost every day of the year. I don't and fuck dude, suck it up. That's life and again, be grateful of what you got because it's a lot.

sure some kids are lucky enough to have parents that pay for camp...but not everyone gets off that easy. i know 16 year olds that have to pay for it. i pay for the whole thing myslef, and have for the past 2 years.

why dont you try this. instead of being a whinny lazy brat who just complaines they cant afford camp...... get up and get a job and save up your money all year like alot of people on this site do to be able to go camp.

and if you dont think its worth the money you obvisoulyhave never been, but even if you have, no reason to diss the people who enjoy it and save up all year for it.

i hate how everyone asumes that people who go to camp and have nice skis and stuff that thier parents pay for it. i work my ass off at 2 jobs all year and go to school in order to pay for the stuff i do and own.

^^ I'll tell you why hes pissed off....first of all the camp summer glacier systems are getting OUT of control and soon I think it will be non existent for private camps and heres why :

a) I went 6 years ago and the price is half of what it is now at COC. THATS A DOUBLE increase in 6years

b) it will get so out of hand in price that people simply wont pay it

c) people will poach more and more and I dont blame them at all the public park was shit when i was there and i hear its still shit. All the kids there now are either hooked up or loaded and yes that isnt fair when you are like me and you saved up money for over 3 years just to pay have of it to go for only 5 days and you have kids there that are there for over a month straight and dont go on the rainy days-like are you fuckin serious?

d) eventually it will turn into one big park and the day rates will be dam expensive. Theres a reason why the camp price is going up so much and NO its not cuz kids are poaching its cuz the price of the summer glacier is inflating like crazy

The public park is a joke. How can you expect kids to maintain summer glacier snow on their own. Yes I will say im jealous of the rich kids and I dont care if im a bitch for whining because most of didnt realize how lucky they were when i was there and because it was the greatest time of my life for 5 days. Plus the fact that whistler is a sick place even without the skiing. I have nothin left to say I figured Id just rant that out...hit me.

don't understand y u gotta be rich to go i got a job this summer/spring and i'm easily paying for it

sounds to me like someone is pissed because they refuse to get a job and cant start taking responsibility for thier life

word. i am not a rich kid. i work my ass off for every piece of equipment i own from my skis to my boots to my clothing. the only thing i dont have to pay for is my pass. I have wanted to go to a summer camp for several eyars now and i just couldnt afford it. i dreamed about it and begged to my parents but they just couldnt afford it. so this year i took affirmative action. along with getting enough money for new equipment that was needed, i worked all the spare time i had to be able to go to COC for 8 days. I didnt get mommy and daddy to pay for it. the only thing they paid for was my 100$ plane ticket at 6 in the morning and there gonna come pick me up at the end of it. so quit your bitching you lazy ass pricks and get off your ass and do some fucking work so you can have some fun.

that is all.

I don't care what anyone says, even if you have rich parents or work two jobs all year, camp is damn expensive for what you get. Most of the time I poach when I go somewhere else, lift tickets are outrageous, and camp is just insane. After travel, food and logding, paying to ride is just out of the question. Hood is not the hardest place to poach, you just have to be smart about it. Fuck everyone who says poaching is wrong, its a part of skiing to deal with it.

ha you guys think that a job will get you to summer camp? Well your obvisouly not in college or have other shit you have to pay for like the regular ski season-cuz skiing aint cheap. I used to work 60 hours a week and it still wasnt enough cuz of the money I needed elsewhere in my life. Summer camp is simply a waste of money unless your rich and yes I said it. Of course if your hooked up or are doin a cheap mammouth trip then thats a diff story but as for whislter itself its unfair and a complete ripoff.

okay lets get this straight here...

I went to high north like 5 years ago, paid with my own money after working for like a year at a shitty telemarketing job. I will admit, it was a fucking awesome time, but at the end of the week I had spent around 3 grand.

I also know that the majority of the kids I was in camp with, had their whole fucking week/weeks paid by their parents. Needless to say all of their gear etc etc...

I went back to Whistler 2 years later, spent about half of what I paid to go to high north, and skied for a month on the glacier poaching different lanes.

Don't hate on the poachers, just cause you got ripped off going to camp, or cause you think its 'bad' for the campers. The lanes are usually pretty empty anyways, its not like you are waiting a long time to hit features. Lots of times when we poached we ended up starting some awesome sessions with the campers...

Reality is, camp is a rip-off, unless of course it is given to you by your rich parents, in which case you deserve to get poached by kids who paid their own way up there.

so back in 2004, at high north, there was this group of 3 or 4 asains and for some reason they were on the glacier. they were wearing helmets, and glasses and stuff, and obviously did not belong. One of the coaches asked them if they were from a camp, and one of them said they were from a camp called "western". The coach was like "oh....well your not supposed to be here" and the skied away. then at the t bar at the bottom, i overheard them, and theyre laughing and like "HAHA, we totally fooled him" It was pretty great.

I don't get why you guys pay so much for camp swhen you could ski for two months in summit county for the same price and better parks and there are probably more pros to jerk off to in summit county also.

holy smokes, i went to coc 5 years ago and it was WAY cheaper. I just checked the site and its 2400 dollars for a week of deluxe! If i were to go, i would do the pro camp with the staff housing, they say its around 10 dollars a night. That is a sick deal. Well its not really that good of a deal, but still its pretty solid. I'm living in south america for 2.5 months and my program is cheaper than a week of deluxe camp haha. Thats crazy.

i hope that u realize that our sport was started only because skiers were poaching "snowboard parks" so if u think poaching is sooo bad maybe you should just stop skiing

and go rip some "snowboard parks"
