Is it morally wrong to be a porn star?

today in class we got in an argument because half the class thought it was morally wrong to be a porn star, the way i see it is an entertainment business where people have sex (completly normal) to satisfy the worlds sexual desires.

some girl said that they are all going to hell and blah blah BUT that not all strippers and hookers are going to hell and what not.

pretty much is being a porn star more morally wrong than being a hooker? i said no

yes thank you this is what i tried telling this psycho chritian girl and shes goin balls to the walls

Your entire class, including professor/teacher is stupid. Please learn the difference between morals and ethics. It is possible for an individual person to believe it is morally wrong to be a pornstar, but to classify all pornstars as being morally wrong according to society - not just one person - is ignorant. Ethically wrong perhaps, but not morally. Morals do not apply to everyone.

Just tell this girl you saw her mom in some MILF porn and she will probably kill herself. Then we have a problem less in the world. You can thank me later.

naw, why would it be? The only arguments would be the same stupid ones that make sex work 'wrong' and it bad to be a 'slut'.

im not dating per-say(SP?) but hooking up with a girl who does porn she is not a pornstar but she is one of the coolest girls i know so id say no.

Just cause there is a video of you out there tied up on a leash getting gang banged by a bunch of black dudes who only know you as bitch and slut shouldn't take away from your character.

I think there's a big difference between consnsual active and conscious objection of oneself on purpose, and especially as a living vs. the forced objectification and dehuminization that we are told to accept and the demand and support that this creates for the porn industry. People objectifying and sexualizing random people on the bus and judging them by their sexual merits is inappropriate in my opinion because this may not be what the other person wants, but in pornography and sex work it is consensual from the person providing the service

well, it started as a obscure fetish, but now i just really enjoy clubbing baby seals for fun. Its kind of addicting.

Now being a pornstar are you able to club the seals with your humongous dong or do you have to use a weapon?

humongous dong = weapon? add some pikes to that shit and pretend your a club tailed dinosaur

So your penis is not a blunt object? Is it more of a spike? Have you ever added spikes to it and pretended you're a dinosaur as previously suggested? Was it for fun or was it for business?

Had this discussion in my politics class. My school/Area isn't very religious so none of the whole hell issue was brought up. But some of the more feminist women in the class decided that it was bad bacause of the roll that women are playing in almost every porno.

as a matter of fact, yes. I really liked it but the female talent didn't seem to feel the same way.

I am most defiantly not posting her name, but she was on girls gone wild and while doing it a producer offered her a contract. she has a few videos on youjizz and other places around the web.

Yeah I agree that the roles are harmful, but I wouldn't really blame that on the actors, more on what people find attractive/demand through their influencers in a patriarchal society. Though I realize the process will continue if that's what is depicted, so it is harmful that way. It is pretty bad in teaching people what sex is like, or what to find attractive. I stopped watching porn because of the way it influenced what I find attractive and what I want in sex too much in too negative a way so now I just use my imagination :3

"What one person sees as degrading and disgusting and bad for women might

make some women feel empowered and beautiful and strong.” - Sasha Grey

As long as they're not forced into porn and it's their own choice, I don't see a problem with it.

it objectifies people, so it depends how you view objectifying people. in my opinion yes, although i cant speak for women i think so.

i feel as if prostitution is morally wrong because of how dirty it is (except in vegas where it is regulated) while porn is essentially a type of entertainment that satisfies our sexual desires and fantasies, becasue without imagination we are nothing you are just a vegetable. plus it is a legit business, they pay taxes and make money and all that jazz, plus it is completely legal unlike prostitution

dirty because it's unregulated = we should regulate it because it's not wrong?? I feel like you could say sex work is bad because of this, and be possibly dangerous to participate in but is that the same thing as it being wrong?

I also believe that pornography takes away from our imaginations because when we watch it, what's going to happen is going to happen and we don't really get to shape the outcome with our minds. However I could see it being helpful in terms of giving new ideas, which I could see being close to imagination... interesting..

Getting a service from somebody is objectifying them? I've been dehumanizing my barber for years. Had I known, I never would have hired him.

It's an obvious difference but one that shouldn't really matter. The man getting sex in porn isn't paying for it. He's getting paid too. So by that logic it should be legal to pay to people to have sex with each other but not if you pay for sex for yourself. The arguments for and against are convoluted and basically go in circles
