Is it illegal to post videos of fights?

Explained in the title pretty good. You would think that it might be protected under the first amendment but with all the talking heads on tv bitching about those 8 girls beating up another girl and posting it the web there might be some kind of law.

ya some guy at CU got arrested cause he lit off a firework on campus (which yous cant do). the popo just looked up the vid on youtube and went an busted his ass. altouhg it wasnt a fight its kinda the same deal
 
How are people "bitching" about those kids that beat that girl up? They set her up! They deserve whatever they get, and I hope they get a lot.

You have to be an idiot to beat down someone, tape it, and post it on youtube or anywhere else.

 
There is nothing illegal about posting a video of a fight. The illegal thing those girls did was beat up the other girl. Posting it on youtube isn't illegal.

One day when I was like seven I went to work with my dad cus my school had it off, and there was this girl fight, it was gnarly, hair all over the place, it was bad...

But, it isn't illegal to post the video, but it is illegal to record/watch the fight because fighting is illegal and you have to report things that are illegal.
 
The girl from the news story ended up being blind in one eye along with a host of other injuries.

I don't think that video up above is from the current news story. The one I saw was of a girl getting the legitimate shit kicked out of her inside a house. I didn't watch the whole thing though.

It's so fucked up on so many levels. That a bunch of girls lured another one over and kicked the living shit out of her in some perverse quest to be famous is beyond hideous.
 
my friend had community service and a day in jail for posting a vid of him whoopin ass. because it was proof of assault and shit
 
There was once a fight in my high school where these two chicks were seriously beating the shit out of each other up against the lockers, nails, hair, slaps, some punches, everywhere. And the one chick got her hoop nose ring torn out, which I think would be really painful.
 
I don't know the people in the fight nor was i there. Someone else posted the video and I saved it to my comp for my ipod and then the video was deleted from youtube so i decided to put it back up.
 
i know this guy who teaches in this school where he said chicks get in more fights than guys, they like throw punches and shit and they broke a teacher's arm when she tried to break up the fight, they're vicious little fuckers, they should stay in our beds or in the kitchen
 
its not illegal to post the video but if your in the video doing illegal things then you get in shit.
 
exactly. If you end up going to court over the matter, you are going to have your fate sealed. With the video online they have all the evidence they need, and to top it off, I'm sure after watching the video they can then charge you with a slew of new crimes that they might have "missed before".

"It shows here in the video that you threw your drink onto city owned property. That's littering son. Let's add that $3500 fine to your tally.
 
ironic because (i know it isnt a fight) but my school kicked out a kid and suspended 7 others who made 20 videos making fun of a kid in my school. the kids were idiots but i dont know how the school can involve themselves. they said it was because they were wearing my schools sweatshirt and talking about teachers, i guess they deserved it for being so stupid
 
some girls in my school filmed themselves making fun of another chick and put it on youtube. the school found out and they got suspended an shit but then they got phone calls threatening them not to come back to my school. i just sat back and laughed my ass off.
 
That s school can somehow justify kicking out and suspending students for mocking others students with video. Do they plan to kick out everyone who gets caught making fun of someone? Now granted I don't like what they were doing, and I'm not condoning it. But for them to say they can suspend people and expel them because of the fact that the students were wearing the school logo seems like BS to me. The school isn't sponsoring the students or paying them to wear the logo, and if the student paid for the shirt, that means he/she owns it and can use it for whatever he/she would like...including wearing it in a video mocking someone.

And as far as talking about teachers...well our right to free speech is all over that one...so it would have to be something slanderous or threatening to qualify for any kind of punishment.
 
exactly, i thought u thought i was lying, but the kid that got kicked out was always in trouble anyways so they had enough. my school defines bull shit. they are so strict and all of the teachers are assholes who will ruin your life if they can. you dont get any mercy. also the school cant handle shit so they turn to discipline to sort things out, which doesnt work.and they are stupid. for example, my friends steal from the vending machines every day. after lacrosse practice this one kid sticks his hand under the vending machine slot and clears out the entire bottom row of drinks, puts them in a trash bag, and walks out. he does it every week and steals everyday. whats funny is how it gets restocked everyday despite no drinks yet no money.now if you are dumb enough to get caught you are screwed. the same kid got a detention for purposefully clogging a toilet, which no one had proof of. and back to the video, one kid (i hate him, but anyway) got suspended three days for saying "the end" on one of the videos. whoever was involved got screwed. i could go on for hours about stupid stuff my school does.
