Is it harder to hit rails with longer skis?

I recently purchased 178 Line Invaders, and have skied on them twice. IT might just be that I'm not use to such long skis, but it seems rails are harder to hit with long skis. Anyone have any advice to fix my problem or does it simply get better over time? For reference, I'm 6'0, so I think I purchased the right length ski.

im the same height and i got 178 invaders can spin like a top .. if anything they are on the small size. just takes getting used to

I jumped from 167 to 180, and I consider myself a weak skier and I didn't have any problems. That's odd that you seem to be having trouble

Naw. Those skis are a bit short for you if anything. If you just jumped from 160's to 178's it might be awkward for a couple days, but the length of your skis has nothing to do with the difficulty of a sliding a rail.

i jumped from a 161 flyer to a 178 anthem, and i hit rails fine on my first day riding the anthems

it took my two days to get use to mine but they are my first center mount ski and i absolutely love them. i find them easier to balance

178 Invaders don't actually measure out to 178, Line's always wind up shorter. Plus they're center mounted so they ski shorter anyway. I went from a 171 to a 181 this year and I had little problems. Spinning off of rails is a little harder, just grip more and put more into it.

I jumped from 151's to 173's this season and had trouble the first day, but I just had to get used to. Spinning onto/on rails/boxes is still proving to be a problem for me, but other than that longer skis are way better. And for reference I'm 5'3 115 lbs and my skis are a solid 10cm over my head.

i just switched from a 138 rossi's to 151 invaders at first is was a huge diffrence, diffrent feeling .. but in time i got used to it after a weekend or two i leanred to have fun with bigger skis

its all personal preference and personal attriutes.

im 6'2'' and i have 190 firstbloods. i ski BC, pow, and trees mostly but whenever i take a lap thru the park, ill hit the occasional rail or 2. until you get used to longer skis, just hit rails like you would urban. just pop n hit em from the side instead of staight on straddleing th rail. once you get used to the pop and the length you should be able to come on straight forward.

but yea, if your 6' then those skis are on the small side for your height anyway unless you ski ONLY park!!!

Meh, some people prefer a shorter ski... easier to handle in tight trees and such. I'm 6'2", this will be my 12th season, and I have 175s. And no, it doesn't bother me at all that some people insist that my skis are too short lol.
