is it better to have your bindings mounted back or forward

I have rossignol scratches and I mounted them 2cm foward of the suggested 'modern' mark. In other words, for park and pipe, the more foward the better. For powder, I would go back a little.

Ok forst off, let's get something straight. TRUE center means that, from the center mark on your boot sole, there is exactly the same amount of ski in front and behind that mark. Most park and pipe skis have 2 marks. One about 3 CM back from True Center, and one right at True Center. True Center mounting is good for skiing switch and lots of park. True Center skis don't carve as well, and the stance isn't as well adapted for powder. Mounting them back from true center is better for all mtn, pow, and big mountian.

i ski a lil of everything so im 1.5 cm behind center mounted, and who the hell would ever forward mount their skis, unless u ski switch all the time, and all u throw is switch tricks, there is no reason to have a forward mounted ski, and even if u do that forward mounted would still look gay

most riders i know will have a certain pair of skis mounted more then true center so there tail is longer and makes it easy for ridin switch , to benifit them in comps such as a big air event when there riding fakie all the time

measure true center - draw a line

measure edge center - draw a line (effective edge)

compare to suggested mounting, usually about 6cm difference. split the difference = +3 or so is perfect for me.
