Is frank raymond is the best urban jibber in the world

don't get me wrong, it is still dangerous, but compare the effects of messing up on say the bir air jump at the usopen for skiing, and the big air ramp for the x games in LA

Did you idiots forget to read the title of the thread before you posted? Jesus.

.................

I'm sorry I just can't get over how stupid you are.

Ya you wouldn't fall and hit your head doing a rail if you where good. Go to the joystick website. JP smoked his head doing a rail and got a concussion. JP AUCLAIR SUCKS!!!!! oh ya didn't he win best segment of the year last year?

Helmets look stupid in magazines and videos........ First of all why the hell would you judge based on somebody who acctually cares about their life? Do you know what life is worth? Obviously not. One fall, doesn't have to be your fault, and there you go, brain trauma, you're a vegatable for the rest of your life. Does that sound like fun?

Wearing a helmet doesn't make you a pussy it makes you smart. I almost always wear a helmet and I've had 3 concussions. I guess I suck because I fall. Have you ever watched a ski movie with a crash section? Those concussions would have been way worse had I not been wearing one. I probably wouldn't even be able to ski anymore if I didn't wear a helmet. Well whatever I would have looked really cool when I could ski so that's better than being able to ski with a slightly lowered amount of fashion.

Sorry about the rant

i wouldnt say hes the best. but definetly one of the most suprising up and comer segments i have ever seen. the kid is good, real good. we will be watching him closely.

Dude, you can never know when an accident will happen even if you're one of the greatest in the world.

haha no skier in the world is good enough to never fall... eg. Tanner, Hugo ect. They all fell...You take a gamble when you dont wear you're helmet..

jf, raymond, charles g, and JD all killlll urban in skimatic. Watch the b footy and JD KILLS it at the tremblant street festival, and after that he is throwing 450s and shit off urban.. rediculous.. JD is just as good as houle or frank, but i dont think any of them can touch the level at which gagnier throws down on. (watch the last clip in the movie under the credits.. he literally walks onto an urban)

I have to disagree with you for the Gagnier part.

I really like Charles and all, but you can't say that he is better than Houle or Zicat in urbans...

i havent seen any of his footage, id like to. vanular is quite good at urban as well but i dont know if hes any better

yet there is still a margin of error. if danny kass had messed up his rocket backflip, and landed on his head, it would have been on hard wood, instead of snow.

seriously i dont see whats wrong with a jump to get onto a rail, it doesnt look that bad, it really depends on how high the rail is too, sometimes you need a big jump or your not getting on.

i love how no matter how a thread is started a new and completely irrelevant topic comes up and people argue that. this was about the frank guy being good at urban, not whether skiers should wear pads, and if it hurts more to fall in skateboarding or skiing. i think there are too many sick urban jibbers to name one the best. until we see someone doing things on urban rails most people woulnt think of, i think we cant name one king. i personally wanna see more rail to rail horizontal transfers, and press sw up press. i think thats where jib tech will go next

it makes it more of a challenge. ced had some interview this winter, and he was talking about his "rules" for urban rails; jump only as high as 2 stairs, jump on the stairside of the rail... etc. try it, because urban will become a totally different experience, and way more rewarding

nothing against Ced, but the two stair rule isnt universal, some rails are high off the ground, some are low.

and when trying a really intense urban that has lots of kinks or elbows why would you want to make it more difficult? if the rail itself is difficult enough why make it harder?

im not saying jumps should be huge, im just saying they should be big enough so your not worrying about getting on to the rail.

what if you scoped out a really nice urban rail, lets say it was perfect in every way, except there was no way in hell you could ollie onto it without a jump bigger than two stairs high, would you not hit the rail just because you would need a jump?

there was already a thread a while back in which i expressed my dislike for quebecfreestyler's invention of urban rules...

what if...

Obviously there's gonna be exceptions, we don't need everyone posting "what if situations" just to prove he's wrong/your right. Think before you post

Ya he is Liam. I guess the french like changing there profile and self promoting themselves and calling out two major production companies at the same time!

estimate for the 2 stair rule. you dont even have to do that, enough snow that will kick you up enough to heighten your pop a little bit is all you need.

think of how much better at rails you would become if you acclimate yourself to a tiny jump, no matter what the rail. eventually, you will develop the same balance on a big jump, only on a small jump.

after a while, you will be accustomed to smaller jumps, and won't notice the difference.

here, to solve all this threads problems...

wear a helmet, unless you dont want to.

if helmets look gay, buck up and get a fuckin cool one.

build the jump as small or big as you want/need to be able to hit the rail.

yay for problem solving

When you can ollie onto a rail, it's because you shouldnt do it, ever ssena blader or a skater use a jump onto a rail??? We use small ones that's well enought for MOST rails.

You wont see me complaining on a rail with a jump biger then a stair if the rail REALLY needs something like that, but I wont be as enthousiast to see the shot.Want an example??? I filmed on a rail with a jump that was way too big in my opinion but two things made it acceptable for me.

1- another rider liked it that wy cause he wanted to do some gnraly as (insert the f word) trick.

2-making the jump smaller (jump ad no lip at all) would have meant shoveling sheer ICE for about 10 hours and we didnt have any ice picks. Being lazy didnt help much too

I havent seen skimatic, BUT, Ahmed Dali or whatever is the best ive ever seen on urban. but ihavent seen this years ski movies

i'm not disputing the fact that it will mess you up for sure, it just seems in my mind that skating has some pretty nasty side effects

yo i thought this thread was supposed to be on how amazing frank is on urban not the diff. between skating and skiing and helmets and what not
