Is detuning necessary?

I mean, I use my ski for powder, groomers and park, so it would be stupid, but when I'd get a ski only for park would it be necessary? I never did it and never catched an edge if I remember right

I had to detune my skis when I got them (2012 thall) . No matter what rail i hit they stuck like fucking glue and caught edges until i detuned em and then beat the hell out of them. They will detune on their own over time but breaking them in is the worst

you should really detune them anyway, at least somewhat. its gonna be way easier to get edge cracks when you hit rails with sharp edges.

They aren't sharp anymore actually so I guess they detuned themself

Detune underfoot with any ski you plan on using in the park. Hitting rails with non detuned edges will lead to cracks without a doubt.

What you want to do is detune them before hitting any rails or boxes. IF YOU LET THEM DETUNE ON THEIR OWN YOU WILL FOLD THE EDGES!!. you will also be more prone to edge cracks and hookups. edges folding will wear the life of the ski down immensely and make it very easy to destroy the ski.
