Is competeing fun?

lately ive just been really rethinking whether selling yourself to a competition and trying your hardest is wort it to everyone else, or if others share the thought that maybe letting others win and take the glory has beenfits of its own? discussss haha

Selling yourself to a competition? Maybe thats not how you meant for it to come out. However, selling yourself to a competition is an unfair categorization. For some people they thrive under pressure and love it, while others always choke. Some people are pure film skiers who are talented beyond belief, but wouldn't place in the top 50 in a competition. But if you really need to be pushed and see how you really stack up against everyone else... a competition is just that. Being a judged sport though allows for different opinions, to each their own.

im just sayinn its rare to find a comp now where someone in the poor class can showcase what they really got, others just dont want to. and then there are those who choke and stuff but its hard to find them with the kids that have skiing to look forward to and only that.

i kinda liek the name poor boyz productions, not saying i do or do not liek the company but i do, just saying the name has alot of meaning.

it really depends on the comp...its more fun when you know people in them...
if you havent tried one before i highly advise you try it! never really know til u try right?they can be pretty fun sometimes

comps are fun once you get over the whole peanut gallery effect. its weird at first having a bunch of people watching and expecting to see something sick. when there's a prize on the line it pushes you to throw down which is an upside to comps.

i've done a few comps and they were a great time because i didn't care if i fell or whatever. i did them with a few friends and we just screamed so loud for each other and had a great time doing the whole event. if you don't care about getting first place its a really fun time plus you push yourself really hard to do sick shit like somebody before said

my brother saw his first guido last week. this dude walked out of a blues club and "swaggered" right past us. little D just burst out laughing and i explained the whole guido deal after words. just thought you should know...

BAHAHA, amazing. Simply amazing.
And I like competitions, I haven't been in much, but I used to race so I was in a lot of races. Races aren't really comps cus they're not judged, it's all about time, but the pressure is still on.

when i was younger (like in highschool and shit) I wanted to compete as much as possible (granted at the time I wasn't doing too bad and it was a source of income when there wasn't money coming in from anywhere else). My weekends consisted of traveling around from comp to comp and it was fun - for a time.
Over time though I started not wanted to enter the comps and just chill out and watch my friends. At that time I was out of highschool and skiing was more of a full time thing, and I didn't see the need to compete at every chance. I was happy just skiing all the time and watching my friends kick ass in the comps. Granted my friends at the time were starting to get really good and there was no way I could beat them.

I went like 6 or so years without competing in anything, but last year I threw my towel back into the ring. Just doing local comps, again with friends, and I'm loving it. I think the problem with competition is people take it too seriously and forget why they're on their skis in the first place. I mean - if you don't win (hell, if you don't qualify for finals even) does that mean skiing becomes less fun? fuck no. Will your friends think less of you by not beating them? Probably not - I mean, they're your friends, they know how you ski, and well, they're your friends.
I don't know. I've always been telling friends (good or bad) that if they have any thought as to weather they should enter a comp or not, then enter. Don't even think about winning, just think of your run as another lap in the park or on the mountain (if it's a big mountain comp) with your friends cheering you on.
It's just skiing. Don't loose the love simply because you spend too much time training and not enough time skiing.
btw: what the fuck is training anyways? I've always just thought of myself as going skiing. Training sounds like a dirty word.

personally i do not think competing is fun because it puts to much pressure on your bak and people r expecting u to do good. But it does help u to compete once because u wiil soon get over your fear of competing.and theres no sense in not competing

i have never done a comp with money involved but last year i did comps for my school and i did not find it fun. i spent most of my day standing around waiting for my turn to ski. skier cross was probabily the most fun to me because i felt more competive then in slopestyle. i could do the same run in slopestyle without having a comp

Competetions can be fun, but you can't take it seriously. It's a fun way to push yourself and your abilities, but if you're getting anxious before you drop in, or losing your cool when you fall, it might not be right for you.

at the end of the day, it's about having fun.

Problems I have with "Ski Competition".

Some kids really forget what skiing is about and just base all their skiing on getting sponsored, to the point where they aren't having fun+thinking they are top shit compared to everyone else if they win a small comp.

Other then that I don't mind as long as they stay humble. Personally, I hate standing out in a crowd so I can't see myself entering comps any time soon.

in my opinion comps are great. they push you to train as hard as you can train, and push you to your limits. i think it makes you a much more dedicated skier, because when you know there is a comp coming up, you'll do whatever you can to win. its awesome when somebody in front of you just threw down, and you have to give it your all to beat him.

well if you suck, then it probably wouldn't be too much fun. it's no fun embarrassing yourself. but if you know what you're doing, then the chance to pit yourself against other riders is an exciting challenge. and let's not forget that you can win some pretty cool stuff!

As someone who is really competitive I love to compete when I get the chance. When I know I have a comp coming up spesh one that I know I prob won't win my progression goes through the roof. Instead of pussing out of a trick I want, I'll be like "man i have to learn this by friday" and just get beat up trying, which makes it a 100 times more rewarding to learn it like that then slowly progress to it through the season. But in the end I wouldn't say competitions aren't insanely fun, personally I wouldn't like them as much if it was all fun and everyone wins a prize, thats what my regular ski days are for. I like the pressure, the rush, performing in front of a crowdand the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat
