Is Breck only good for park?

Honestly, it's just because I grew up skiing east so I have to remind people when they are ignorant about how shitty the east Really is. i have friends from out there that would kill to live in CO. Besides maybe the pow in Vermont or something.)

I hope your kidding about washington... If you actually visited here you would know that all it does is rain... I hope each and every one of you heeds my good word and stays away... You wont regret it and your spirits will be left untainted by the cold, dark, wet, spirit of the northwest...

The "it only rains" in PNW shit is getting old quick...

I know, it snows a lot, snow levels are iffy at times, but really, you get the most snow in the world up there and it may be heavy and wet at times, but the 250" base makes up for it...

first everyone knows a51 tromps brecks park. on top of that everyone at breck is stuck up and faggy.

second, there is NO SNOW here at all. anywhere. supposed to snow this wknd but we'll see how it turns out. guna be warmer again next week so anything that does accumulate will be gone soon after... sucks ass just like last year.

id say aspen or vail is your best bet. or Tahoe, snow was incredible 3 weeks ago and they just keep getting hit

a51 is indeed way better than breck. however, breck evidently got 5 inches last night. and more to come this weekend.

not to argue with breck lovers but i like keystones park much better... i like to be able to hit 7 or 9 features in a row that are pretty even on the skill content. And summit isnt that great for steeps, plus we dont have the snow for it now, Silverton is sick so is crested butte and Telluride. if you have the knowledge there is also lots of great back country.but yea Utah is pretty sick as well.

Don't go to Breck.

I'm going to Breckinridge for spring break will there still be enough snow for the whole mountain to be opened

yes.

Sadly, I found this out the hard way and have been trying to survive the last two seasons. I am hoping to move closer to the ocean and farther north (BC) where there is more consistent snow and better terrain.

Vail is overrated, breck is flat, and I've never been to aspen... I'd go there

What part of Summit County blows besides the parks don't you fuckers understand? Enjoy the park, you won't be shredding steeps. That is what you are dealing with, so just have fun with what you have!!!!

breck has some pretty fun terrain, nothing too crazy, but technical if you want, you just have to go find it. The lines suck dick though, so i would go to aspen because you will get almost as good of a park, better terrain, and less lines. have fun

Uhhhhhhmmmmmm.....

Summit county is only good for park and tourists, along with a lack of snow and a dearth of steeps. Summit County, more or less, blows

Colorado is better living Utah is better skiing. Pac Northwest heavy snow blah blah blah more gnar. Alaska is obviously fucking awesome, no ones in Montana and Wyoming enjoy your hand to get laid. BC is the best fucking godam skiing but too bad were aren't Canadian to move there.....and east coast.....well your just gonna have the better outlook when you visit all of the above. Learn how to rip and enjoy moguls like Candide did godamit.

Would you prefer lots of blue donuts? Instead?to the person who posted this thread try get your parents to go to mammoth or Jackson Hole instead ..

Isn't aspen in the elk range? Never the less, I hear great things about aspen.

I'm confused though. People throw Silverton around like its a vacation destination. I've never been skiing in Silverton (I will by the end of the season), but it appears as if people go there to ski and ski only. If this kid is going on a trip with his family, Purgatory and Wolfie are much more reasonable choices. Wolfie is super cheap compared to the rest of the state and when you are done skiing purg you get to hang out in Durango (I don't think anyone could call Pagosa or South Fork a ski town).

My Southern CO analysis

Purg:

I would go to Purg if I was with my girlfriend or family. Decent, yet unspectacular resort amenities, some of the best scenery in Colorado, and easy access to Durango. There is some good Tree skiing with some interesting drops and features spread out around the mountain. Not a Bad Place to spend a few days.

Wolf :

Never Been, but from what my impression is,you would go with some buddies for intense , serious pow skiing. No hot tubs, no bullshit, just Skiing.

Montana skiing is better, snow is better, and in my opinion cities and bars are better. People do live here, and they're generally a lot more laid back than the stuck up skiers of summit co.

Or california...

Whoever said they might move down south should and shouldn't think twice about it.

Colorado=east coast of western skiing.

No, just the things OP wants aren't great where his family is looking at going. Snow in the south west is good. I heard steamboat is doing ok... I-70.... not so much... but if all OP's family wanted was groomer park runs, summit would be fine, but that's not all they want... so I-70 = no go.

But no one knows what the weather will be in 2 weeks... just seeming bleak at the moment.

hrmm, well i might go there during presidents weekend, ill take it anyway, kind of a bummer that there is not a lot of snow though.

This thread sucks. Pretty sure 90% of the posters haven't even skied most of the mountains they're calling flat or are to pussy to actually ski the steeps.

Also, whoever said Aspen is a better than Summit County right now doesn't know what they're talking about. If it's doing better, it's by a hair.

God, stop fucking comparing Summit Co. to the east coast, the only resorts out here that could compare to Breck, Keystone, or Copper are Jay Peak, and Saddleback, Maine. But both resorts are extremely small, and still fairly tame compared to Colorado. 99% of you probably don't spend a whole winter here, so chances are you have no idea what most Ice Coast skiers experience.
