Is anyone else not having or missing family christmas for one reason or another?

younger brother is in a rehab type thing in utah so my mom and i are going out to see him on christmas. not a typical christmas

Not me personally, but hung out with a friend a couple days ago who has to spend Christmas by herself due to parents going to Mexico

Yep. I live about 2000 miles from my family. I haven't seen any family member in over a year now.

I have no plans. My wife has to work. My Stepdad's a prick, mom's brainwashed. Real dad's out of town. I don't really care about christmas anyway, it just feels like an obligation.

Yea kinda sucks this is my first holiday away from home I'm 6000 miles away from my family's christmiss and new years party's.

my family had financial problems 3 years back so we've now been livin tight on everything, so we havent had christmas for the past 2 years we get eachother little things throughout the years when one of us gets a little money to spend.

I have work today and work the day after Christmas at 6 AM, so 10+ hours of driving tomorrow to my uncle's house and back isn't going to happen. I'm celebrating Christmas with my girlfriend and her family this year.

I have always spent Christmas with the family, but we never open presents on Christmas day. We just go skiing and give each other a few gifts the night before.

Out of curiosity, does anyone else besides asians and jews go skiing on Christmas?

nope that is it. Along with my dad and step mom because my sister and I cruise over to their place on boxing day.

Our family usually heads to the mountains over Christmas. I have to work today and Thursday, Friday this week so we aren't. Also, we are neither Jewish or Asian.

My grandparents are coming for the day, but will likely be gone by the time I'm off work because they don't like driving in the dark. I'll see them on the weekend though, so I'm not too choked.

Moved to Colorado for the winter, and I won't be making it back for Christmas for the first time. It has it's pros and cons.

Not a big deal. Actually will be home for christmas this year. Not that stoked about it. Not a big fan of it. Usually I just work christmas. I liked working at one mountain I got paid double time to blaze, rake everything proper, and then sesh the empty park all day.

ski with the family today (christmas eve) then hit up the night church service...then Christmas day hang out with the family the whole day messing around with the new presents, watching christmas movies etc....its way fun, hasn't gotten old and im 23.

I work at a resort and I'm 7 hours from my family.. So I'll most likely be skiing after work and then going to see Django Unchained tomorrow night with my girlfriend and her family.

I've worked every Christmas for the past 4 years.. Not fun.

My mom impromptu divorced my dad this summer and I really couldn't handle celebrating Christmas with how things were. So I said fuck It, drove 4 hours and am skiing until Wednesday to keep my mind of everything.

Im in Reno. Don't feel like wasting 2 days travelling back to Boston or flyng during the holidays flying sucks enough as is. Just concentrating on my skiing and my sports betting out here.

I have SMU +400 in this game :)

Id bet shes ugly and thats why the parents would rather go to Mexico than stay home and do the usual.

If she is hot...and you invite her over for Xmas...and she doesn't put out....she sucks and there is your explanation for why her rents ditched her on Chritsmas lol!

Missed Christmas last year because I was in Kenya. As nice as it is to be home. I was just as happy last year without the gifts and feasts.

Missing out cause I'm spending the winter in Golden BC, while family is all home in Toronto... kinda shitty, Christmas has always been one of my favourite times of year, I have absolutely nothing to do for Christmas or anyone to spend it with

Dad's in the hospital after his heart stopped twice 2 days ago. Had a pacemaker put in yesterday, and may even be able to come home today. So far just no Christmas morning will be had. But there's a good chance we'll have Christmas afternoon!

I live 6000 miles away from my parents. But then again, i do live in Whistler, so i cant really complain.

Would have liked to have been there on Christmas though.

yeah i'm in jamaica with the fam so we just said fuck xmas. got some gifts before i left and my homie and i are gettin each other a gift when i get back, but aside from that we do not give a fuck bout xmas this year.

Costa Rica, so glad I made this choice. At times I wish I had chosen a country in Northern Europe because that could have been pretty rad, buuuut then I just head to the beach. haha, how's it going with learning Norwegian?

Norwegian is going really well man! What organization are you with? I have 2 friends in Costa Rica on exchange years at the moment haha, maybe you know them.

Maybe man, pm me names. And I'm here with AFS. You? And I would have loved to have learned norwegian, but I stuck with spanish as it's more common. My dad's nurse actually did an exchange to Norway and continues to be fluent to this day. I listen to her talk to patients at times haha

First time having a girl friend at my parents house for Christmas, so different but they love her so it's awesome. Also about to spend my first New Years Eve out of WNY in Paris.... w/ my girlfriend.

Fuck yeah.

Spent my Christmas in a hospital, I guess I'll celebrate with my family another day... Laying in my bed now and thinking about it now is actually pretty sad. Even when we celebrate it again it won't be the same
