Is Al Gore wrong?

Ok, so it seems to me that this year mother nature had diorhea and shit all the fluffy white stuff all over, record snowfalls around the country. Its june and in MN (where i live) its been unseasonalbly cold, like 4 80degree days so far, late as hell spring, ice was rediculously thick and we still had 30 degree days into late may. Im in utah right now and we got snow yesturday, theres still a shit ton of snow around. Hood has had more snow than theyve ever seen and is still getting more (from what ive heard on the news). SO either god LOVES skiers, or Al was way the fuck off.

well by stating only stuff about snow your probably going to get flamed by all the fags on this site. but i agree, if i remember correctly the ice at the poles grew larger this year and personally this spring was colder than average here in philly (as stated by the local weather station, i'm not making it up saying i think it felt cooler)

Having a shit load of snow doesn't exactly disprove global warming at all. Our winter was generally warm this year in Ontario, we didn't have nearly as many -20C+ days as we normally have and I would say the temperature averaged anywhere from 0C-8C throughout winter. We had a shit load of snow though. The thing is that excess heat down in the Carribbean region generated more moisture. When that moisture collided with the cool arctic air it was a cluster fuck of snow for the east coast.

its the global climate heating up, melting the ice caps, making speicies go extinct, and making it hotter for the rest of us, also may have caused katrina. ill admit that i dont know all the little details but, everywhere its been colder, and if it was warmer we wouldnt be getting/keeping all this snow. NOW with that stated im not trying to say that its not happening or that it dosent exist or what is causeing it. I just think that whats happening is a little ironic considering the fact that its a major topic everywhere.

it's all liberalist propoganda....no one is to say he's exactly "right" or "wrong"

theres a ton of facts that completley disprove global warming (nothing having to do with one year's snowfall, though, that's a bit too short of a timeframe) and plenty of facts that support it

it's all what you choose to point out and leave out, no one is to say whether is actually happening or not, Gore just sees it his way and has the power to use mass-media to promote it

the earth goes thru stages, has been forever. global warming? probably not...global climate change? you could say that. it's all perspective

Once again, you have no idea what you're talking about, take a meteorology class.

It's not liberalist propaganda, it's what he thinks is going on and he wanted to get his idea out to the public and he did a really good job of that. I thought it was a little cheesy and unnecessary to put in the whole election ordeal but he still got the point accross that what's going on in the environment is not normal and we HAVE to do something about it before there is no snow anymore.

Propaganda- a concerted set of messages aimed at influencing the opinions or behaviors of large numbers of people. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense presents information in order to influence its audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or gives loaded messages in order to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the cognitive narrative of the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda.

.........it's not?

one year isn't a trend, the poles are still not what the were just 5 years ago. global warming has to do with trends, and the point is that we have an accelerated trend. yes the weather fluctuates naturally, that's why there's ice ages and such, but the theory behind global warming is that we are causing the natural warming of the earth to happen much quicker than it naturally would. im not saying gore is right, or that you are wrong. i personally think gore exaggerated for dramatic effect to get his point across. and it's nonetheless not a bad idea whether you believe in global warming or not, to find ways to conserve our natural resources.

Usually the seasonal amount of snow is suppose to fluxuate every year. If thats true this upcoming year should be sorta shitty. I can remember two years ago, it rained quite a bit during dead winter. This year was amazing.

this is an exceptional year i must admit. but if you look at it from a larger view it doesnt even out. it gets hotter and hotter. like, the bad years outweigh the good years more and more

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Al Gore created it to make it a "POLITICAL ISSUE". Yeah, laws to stop global warming would be great, and I think he was pushing for that when he made the film, but I don't think his intention was to start shit with the Republican Party. I was not emotionally affected by the film, I just realized that shit man, I want to ski till I'm 80, we should probably do something about this.

Why is this subject always brought up?

#1 - Global warming is not an immediate topic... One cannot say that the events that we are experiencing right now are related to "global warming".

#2 - Industrialization has only been on earth for what... about 100 years?

#3 - I'm not on this whole green bandwagon, but lets be honest here... putting synthetic chemicals, and excess natual chemicals into the air cannot possibly be a good thing. Chemistry and thermodynamics don't lie.

The book of genesis doesn't speak of god creating things that create mass amounts of CO, CO2, and other chemicals? I find it funny that the same religious zealots that are so hell bent on

Just because the things we are doing now aren't immediate and don't have short term effects, doesn't mean that future generations will not see the consequences. If you are so selfish that you would put your own convenience and laziness ahead of the world that your great grandchildren will be living in, you are a terrible person.

haha, ok, you're still not getting the point, it's still propaganda...it doesn't have to be a bad thing or "start shit", it's just what it is

for the record, i'm not really on either political side, it's just it is what it is. i personally choose to conserve energy, recycle, etc... every day to try to do my part a bit.

i think you need to read my first post, i don't really take a side and i'm not disagreeing with your stance, just your assessment of what you think his movie/campaigns are (propaganda)

All you have to do to get that bull shit award is oppose capitalism. I wouldn't take it seriously, especially after people like Yassur Arafat have won it.
