Is advertising your film in mags. worth it.

that's where i am now. the news letters are all pretty free. just like word of mouth they have to want to put it in. (not a joke). I'll probably go w/ The Patrol mag. Its 800 bucks for a 1/3 page ad. and every patroller receives the mag for free. 26000 subscriptions. not sure if its true but i'm sure its 26 times as many as i'm gonna sell.

Powder just gave me a better offer. I'm still not sure to go for it or not. I don't think it will work for me. I small time. they did offer to put my teaser on the site. I'm gonna post the bombs seg. i'll link it when i know.

another question. if know one reads the small ads in the back of powder, how can you justify the cost of full page.
 
do it grassroots and go to diff patrols and talk it up. u cant consider writing big checks to be marketing
 
take it from me. it isnt worth it. if you are going to advertise it has to be a full page ad at least so people see it.
 
i agree. why just throw money at something. what i need to do is show it at more theatres. i'm gonna start a new thread.
 
your not going to make any money off your first movie. if your town is cool it will have a couple ski movies playing localy, find out who's showing it and ask them if you can be the opener. if they say yes then advertize at all the ski shops and colleges. you won't make any money but you will find out if you have a product you can sell without going broke.
