Is a 96 benz c class a nice car?

Oh yeah. Lift that baby, throw some giant studded tires on there and a winch on the front, flip on the 4 wheel drive, and you'll be mobbing around the backcountry like a sled in no time.

Guy down the street from me has an old Benz stationwagon with over a million kilometers on it, He bought it with like 800K already on it... They run forever apparently.

90s mercedes have serious quality issues.

guy above, is your neighbor's wagon a late 70s/early 80s diesel? I have an 83 diesel and I've treated it like absolute shit for 6 years and it keeps running for some unbeknownst reason. impossible to kill.

Na, I meant kilometers, Its always parked on the side of the road so Ill try to snap some pics for yall

those cars fucken suck ass dude terirble reliability issues and they look pretty bad...Whatever your money so sall good but dont think your the shit driving in a 15 year old benz.

woah woah woha dude calm your self. its just a car for college. i dont think i "look like the shit" when im going down the road. i was just wondering if its a good car in snow. i got it for 1000$ too. cant refuse that.

lol.

The old benz's are bullet proof and much better made than the newer ones.

Iv'e got an '89 300e and it runs better with 260k(km) than my moms 08 e320

Yes c classes are the cheapest benz but it's still solid. all the benz i6 engines are bomber

heres a testement to how bomber old benz's are:

I've got a 92 300e with 316,000km. The guy I bought it from put about $15,000 of work into it and then parked it. That being said, $1.45/l premium gas is killing me....

audi's are awesome in the snow, but typically older BMW's have a rep for being terrible in the snow. The new ones are much better, still not quite as good as the audi's, but more than good enough. I haven't heard a ton about mercedes, and I'm pretty sure its RWD, but it does have ABS, and I have a friend who skis a ton and drives a 318ti all winter, and hes fine, so I would just say get some good snow tires and don't be stupid

got pulled over for illegil window tint that i didnt even put on and got a ticket for nosie violation cause the guy who sold it to me put HOLES in the mufler....fml!

those things are beasts. I was in north Africa and they used 70's C-class Mercs as taxis there. all the odometers were broken at like 600-700 thousand miles with the occasional one still going at 900 thousand. impressive. But it helps that they're in really dry weather their whole lives.

well you take the tires of. mount some EP pros on there (preferably centermounted) then you get pulled up the mounting. get to the top and put her in neutral and BOOM you have a skiing car!

Any C Class from the 90's is a great car, but it's still old. And to the kid that said C Classes are cheap and break down a lot, you do know that the mercedes touring car is a C Class right?

not to agree with him or anything, but the onlything the touring cars have in common with the road going ones is similar looks, different engine, heavily modified chassis, transmission etc.

I'm pretty sure in the 90's the cl class touring car had the same block but heavily bored out cylinders. My mom had a '97 C280 and we had taken it over 150 on tracks before

C class isnt really a great car at all dude actually...have you ever owned a mercedes? You would know new or used they break down a shitload,

Must not have seen my last post. lol. Yeah my family got rid of our '97 C280 last year. And the only parts that were a real problem on it were the timing belt and the water pump. And no matter what car you drive you should replace them every 60k miles. Then again the engine internals weren't stock and we had an insanely stiff suspension on it. Honestly it was a bitch to drive anywhere but a track, hah.

Ha ha cars starting to show its age/milege (165,000). the mirior just fell of and the car stinks of cigerets (bought the car from a suspected drug dealer). the 6 cd changer/player dosnt work. CANCER! cancer just read its ugly head. but hey, all those are fixable. ha ha bump

unless you know how to yourself then you'll regret that decision. Mercedes repair bills are a pain to deal with. A mercedes isn't an american car, you can't just understand the engineering by looking at it. Unless you've studied the engineering of a mercedes anything worth fixing yourself will be too complicated.

well iv had allot of dealing with cars. iv rebuilt an inter one (66 corvair monza) but i know german engineering is allot different from american. if its small or something medemish i can fix it. the bigger ones i give to a very good friend of mine and i usually get a pretty good discount.
